Visitor Visa from consulate in NEW YORK

Hello,

Has anyone applied for visitor visa in the Canadian Consulate in NY recently? I know long back (until 2010 I think) we can just walk-in with the applicaion and all the documents and get the visa stampled on the same day (or in just few days). Then at one point they were not accepting visa application there. Looks like they are accepting now. Has anyone tried this recently? Please share.

No, no walk-ins, you missed the boat from the New York website

In-person submissions will only be available until Wednesday June 25, 2014:

Thereafter, all temporary resident (visitor, student, temporary worker) and permanent resident travel document applications must be submitted either online or through the VAC in NYC.
