My fiancé is an American citizen he currently has a visitor record expiring March 31st, although he has been in the US the last 3 months (since Jan 2019)

We are getting married once he plans to come back in April and applying for spousal sponsorship. We have 9 month old daughter.

Will he need to apply for an extension on the visitor visa before entering Canada?
Will he be allowed back in considering he has been out of the country for the last 3 months?

We want to all be together as a family again and really hoping everything goes smoothly as possible.

Thanks for your help!!

Once he left Canada the visitor status stops so March 31st is irrelevant. Always up to CBSA if he is let in to Canada and for how long but the clock resets when he enters again. He can only visit at this point and should not appear as he is moving to Canada until he gets PR.

thank you for your response! If you apply for Outland PR, while in Canada can you still apply for open work permit?
