After you validated it, did you save the application on your computer first? Is it giving you the reason it isn't working?
I just did my visitor extension online today. I have done two now and never had that happen.

Yeah, we validated it, saved it, and when we upload it it says 'cannot validate'. Like, on the webpage it says cannot validate.

Yep. The GCKey one or whatever.

This is what it says:

Validation error: You have not completed the mandatory fields or you have not completed them correctly. Please make corrections where indicated.
Error Description: We are unable to validate your document at this time, please retry later

That is strange! Could there be something on the actual IMM5708 form that is missing? Mandatory fields makes me think something on the application is missing or maybe they are having problems with their system. Is it a pdf document?
It does say to retry later, so maybe it's their error and not yours.

Sorry you are having this problem. Hopefully it will work later or tomorrow.

I just don't get why if it was their system yours would have worked. What's the county of residence? I did see an error message somewhere along the way about problems with country codes.

If I was missing a mandatory field, the form wouldn't validate, no? Like, when I click 'validate' on the form itself it works.

I am in Ontario, Canada. I sent mine off around 4pm today. I am from the US. I was signed into my CIC GC key and I had saved my application then clicked on Upload and it uploaded it successfully.

When you started the process of applying online did you go through the questions and then at the end it gave you a personal reference code?

Yeah. Like, we have the full page saying what we need to upload etc. We entered the reference code etc. We've uploaded everything else, but it wont take the IMM5708 form.

You typed your form online and just saved it right? Then when you clicked upload it came up with a "Browse" window and then you went and clicked on your saved form to upload right? It is form IMM5708E (04-2015), right?
I am sorry if these questions sound dumb, just trying to see if steps were missed.

Have you opened the saved form to just take a look at it?

No. I opened it and it did the whole CANT OPEN thing, so I saved it then opened it from the file on the computer. Then filled it out, validated, etc.

There is another form towards the bottom of the page, it is next to the "Letter of Explanation" upload, it's not a required one though. You aren't accidently clicking to upload that one are you?
Again, I know this is frustrating and I apologize for the questions. I do really want to help you.

I'm not cl;icking that one. I'm clicking the one that says 'Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Visitor or a Temporary Resident Permit Holder (IMM5708) (required)' Which is where I got the form. Sigghhhhh. I totally get your questions. Just trying everything and googling like mad int he background here.

Yeah, when I clicked on the form from the GC key page it wouldn't open for me either. So, I downloaded the form from the CIC website, saved it, completed it, saved it and then uploaded it. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't open for me from the GC key upload page.

You didn't try and "sign" it before you saved it, right?

Basically how we did it. We just saved it from the browser window, completed, saved, etc.

I've tried it with something written in the signature part and without. Neither made a difference.
