Hi Amissa, I think there is option where you could either send your passport by post or take in person for stamping. it depends on the visa office. Whereas in Sri lanka, country where i am from does not allow delivery of passport by post or courier and that's when passport has to be carried in person.

"Please note we cannot mail or courier passports as it is against the Sri Lankan law. You may come in person or authorize someone on behalf of you to collect your passport(s), but not a courier company"
