Hi Friends,

I need your help in understanding the following points.
I am in Canada on work permit of 6 months (3 months already spent), and my wife is also with me on tourist visa for the same period.

Appreciate your answers on the following poitns :
1. Can I extend my work permit for 6 more months ?
2. If my visa gets extended, can we extend my wife's Tourist visa as well for 6 months of time ? She has multiple entry visa right now.
3. Can her tourist visa be converted to Dependent Visa ?

Awaiting your responses.

Regards.

No, not exactly correct. For a spousal open work permit the other spouse's work permit must be in NOC A,B or O. C,& D, semi skilled no work permit for spouse.

Many thanks for your valuable time and responses.

Kindly answer following questions in order to apply for visa extension. My details are as below.

1. I am in Toronto right now, working for a Canadian company, having short term (6 months) worker visa (category W-1) valid till March 30th 2010. My wife is on Visitor (category V-1) valid till March 30th 2010.

2. Please let me know the complete procedure how to apply for Visa extension. For what period I can extend it, i mean can I extend it for 1 year ?
3. What all documents are required for my visitor (work permit ) visa extension.
4. What all documents are required for my wife's visa (visitor) extension.
5. Can I do it myself by going in Immigration office personally, if yes then which is the nearest office.
6. If not, please share the contact details of any agent who can do it for me.

Many Many thanks in advance.

Regards,
Aditya

What type of work do you do? What is your NOC code? Is you job LMO exempt? Or does your employer have to file for a LMO?

I am a software engineer (Bachelor of Engineer) , working for a Canada client, basically employed with an Indian software company. I don't what's the NOC code and whether it's LMO exempt or not.
I know that my Canada work permit was filed with only Canada client invitation letter, even that time LMO was not taken.
Hope this information is helpful.

Is your work permit co-terminus with your work visa (W1)? It is possible for your visa validity to be shorter than your work permit. Check the "valid until" date on your permit. For you to apply for an extension of your work permit you may need another letter from your employer. Application for extension of work permit are sent to CPC-Vegreville. Once you have your new work permit you can then send your application for a new TRV (Worker) to Buffalo. Your wife can apply for an extension of her TRV (visitor) to CPC-Vegreville. If approved, she'll be given a Visitor Record.
