Hi, I am a Jamaican citizen applying for a TRV from Jamaica. I am a medical doctor who is currently in sub-specialty training at a university. I am traveling in March to Vancouver for a week for an international academic conference in the field of my sub-specialty. I will be funding the trip myself and I have no family in Canada.
In regards to purpose of visit, I will submit the invitation letter from the conference organisation.
In regards to finances, I will submit a bank statement with $2000 CAD, employment letter ($35,000 CAD per annum) and last 3 pay slips .
In regards to ties, I will submit child's birth certificate, marriage certificate, proof of enrollment in the sub-specialty training from the university and property title.
Are these documents sufficient for the application? Any other comments are welcome.

I have all the documents ready and I've paid the fees. I was planning to drop off the application forms and other documents at visa application centre (VAC) tomorrow... but then I stumbled on this site and now I'm having second thoughts about my documents, having read how persons in similar situations were denied a visa.
I don't want to waste my time and money to submit the application if it is sub-optimal. Any feedback would be welcome.

It is worth a shot. It is up to the officer to decided if you get the visa or not. You need to show ties to Jamaica which would show them that you dont plan to stay in Canada and you do return to Jamaica after you stay is up.
