Visa and passport renewal for Parents

Friends,

My Parents have 10 year multiple entry visa that are expiring in December 2020 this year, at the same time their passport is also expiring in same month and day i.e. December 2020. Currently my parents are in India, they had initial plan to come to Canada in March this year but they are stuck there due to Covid 19, now nothing is sure about when International travel would resume anytime soon between India and Canada, at the same time looking at their passport and visa situation, I m confused as what to do. I had thought I would apply for new visa and passport in Canada itself when they would visit here in March but now since everything is uncertain, Should I apply for their new passport in India when they are in India itself and later apply for visa ? OR Should I invite them here in Canada possibly sometime in Fall when travel resumes and apply for new passport and visa here itself ?

Secondly, its better and easier to apply for Super visa or should I apply again for multiple entry visa ?

I am confused as which option would be more safe and better, if you guys can share your views.

1. Apply for new passport in India, when they have the passport, then apply for a TRV in India
2. By the way, visitors can't apply for TRVs in Canada. Also if they arrived in the fall, they would only be admitted to the expiry of their passport.

You should look up how the Indian passport-issuing authority is dealing with this right now in foreign offices. There are most likely delays and postponements because of covid-19, especially if it is a non-urgent case.

1. As per before, a new TRV would have to be applied for at an overseas office while in Canada. As the office's in the US are veeeeeeeeeery slow and you can't send a passport to India, They would have a problem.

Your parents should renew their passport in India before coming to Canada andthey’ll need to apply for a supervisa while in India.
