How many pages of GCMS have you received? My notes were on 23 pages. This part looks similar to mine and that's on first few pages of notes. Though at mine status "passed" is with eligibility, medical and crime. The rest was blank. When it's blank it doesn't mean that they haven't started yet. It says on the first page that certain information qualify for exemption. I cant explain what HIRV means. Tried to google it when received mine notes and couldn't find anything that makes sense about it. Obviously it's some kind of abbreviation. Everything is more detailed in GCMS with statuses and dates in the section called history. At least in my notes it is.
I don't know why you are stuck in background checks... It could be if you are associated with organizations, groups or political parties or because of your job. Those things could be also the reason of longer background checks.

First of all Congrats on your visa, must have been awful not seeing your spouse for how long? I havent seen mine in 6 months now and it's awful.

My notes have like 34 pgs, on 1st pg there is load of stuff but the "newest dates on there" is 23 of December 2011 (Updated Date). There is says Appl Status Reason : INProgress.
It says RPRF : outstanding, although few pages down it clearly says that RPRF was requested, and than few pages down it clearly notes that RPRF & Military book were received back in Oct.

On the 2nd page down are ASSESSMENTS, that says that eligibility and medical are passed, but security: Not started, criminality: not started. it's not blank, it clearly says "not started". as of February, last date on that page was like January 25,2011.

Most of other pages are related to requested and received documents during last yr., and notes from interview.

Where on your caips did you figure out about extensive background checks?

@ocanadaguy

Thank you! Yes it was a long road and it was hard. But nothing is as hard as seeing your kid grow up on skype... Man that must be devastating... I can only imagine...

I've checked CIC processing times and it says 55 work days. So you must be on someone's desk and you'll get approval any day now.
I don't understand how adopted children, children to be adopt and orphans are processed on daily bases but dependent's go under 55 day category with spouses.
Is your wife from visa exempt country? Maybe they can come to Ca and be with you until this process is over? Is that doable?
I hope that Vienna gives priorities to applications with kids.

@smokovnitsa

Thanks!
I haven't seen her in 10 months now... yes it's awful...everything is on hold.

This is good. At least you know they received confirmation for RPRF. They won't send request to Mississauga. It might save some time.

So "not started" was back then. Maybe they waited to see outcome of your interview so they can continue with background checks. You were in a queue for an interview just like I did...and that's probably the biggest delay in entire process. Waiting in line...literally.

If they asked for additional documents many times those things cause delays too. Everything is on hold until they receive requested docs.

On mine notes doesn't say that I'm under extensive background checks. I figured it myself. I knew it can take some time if one served in the army during a war. I received my notes in April 2011. In December 2010. they asked for copy of my military booklet. Right upon receiving of my booklet (according to GCMS notes) Vienna started scheduling my interview. Exact words were :" Convoque appl for WC interview". That was under CORRESPONDENCE section in GCMS notes.
Under section NOTES in January 2011. it clearly says :"Case in interview queue for wc" WC stands for War crimes...
I was in queue since January and received notes end of April. 3.5 months in between no news...
That was the moment I realize that it could take unknown amount of time... ln September things started to move on after the interview. Then 3.5 months wait for CBSA (Modern war crime section) to review interview and conduct further checks. Redoing meds and another 2 months of waiting... And that's about it.

Thank you tajc,

Take care and best wishes to you guys :)

Hi Serdj :) Thanks, hopefully it is on someones desk now... I check the email on my Iphone even before I get out of the car in the garage :) But nothing yet.. I will be yelling "YES, YES!!" when it finally does come :)

I have my vacation days booked In june, so I will 100% be going over with completely empty luggage and helping her come back with our son and bring everything that she needs... She already has 1 luggage at the house of things from her last trip here. She is from a Visa Exempt country so it may make things go that little bit quicker? we'll see... it is supposed to. And yes, just seeing your child on skype almost all the time is really hard! He's playing on swings and in the sand box at the park and I don't get to see any of that, only on a video that she takes. The plan is that hopefully it can be completed by the time she comes here, if not, hopefully there is no need for an interview once she is here, because I plan on her being able to stay till this thing finishes. With any luck, never have to be without them again :) I don't see why I would need an interview, i gave enough proof that I would be convinced if someone showed me all those things... However, until it's finished, I just wont rule anything out. Who knows what rules they have to follow?
Right now I'm just working every single hour available to me.. once they are here, I want to ease up on Over time and spend time with them. I'm extremely excited to go house shopping with her once she's here.. That's what I'm waiting for also... She can pick out her dream kitchen :) I just want my dream Home Theater Room :) hehe I have everything already, but not the huge room to enjoy it the way it should be enjoyed... Although I think my son will love watching the Movie "Cars" in there :) It is by far his favourite fascination!

I Got it finally PPR ;D ;D

At the beginning I was only quietly watching, but thanks to you I became active 8) and thanks for great job with spreadsheets. Good luck lucky rain ;)
