I think im the only one who has to live abroad with my husband and wait..such a time waste

Interviews are stressful even when you have a good idea of what they might ask or if you have a straightforward, strong case. I understand the tension these situations tend to create. Hopefully we will not need an interview, but then again, one never knows. It might be another thing to get through and that might slow down the process, but we will hope for the best anyway.

I am a sponsor and have been in Canada the whole time. Unfortunately, my spouse was never able to get a visitor visa to come here and I was not able to leave Canada. (have a child here and a job and some other obligations, so I cannot just pick up and move to Serbia, where my husband lives). It is unfortunate that we have only been able to see each other once a year during my vacation, so that amounts to 11 months apart each year. I still don't know how we do it, but we will endure. We must. You are very lucky that you can be with your husband, even if you don't like the place too much. Don't look at it as a waste of time. Believe me, I would give and I would bear anything in the world just to be able to be with him. I hope your application gets processed quickly so that you can finally move and start the life that you want to have. Good luck.

I've been in Serbia (my wife's home country) since she's the applicant. I was born in Serbia but moved to Canada in '92. I came to Serbia for a vacation and never had any intentions of tying the know but it happened... and I've been here since. We're traveling to Canada for good in 2 days, and we are both super excited...

Have fun in Vienna, it's such a lovely city. Go and visit Rathaus, Prater, and as many castles as you can... don't forget to stop by Mariahilferstrasse. Vienna is fantastic, and it's even more beautiful during x-mas holidays. Subway (U-bahn) is super punctual and people are quite friendly. It's a bit on the pricey side but there's plenty of tradition in it. Directions to Canadian embassy can be found on CIC website - it's right at Schwedenplatz.

I've been lurking this part of the woods for a while now and finally decided to make an account. I entered my info into the Vienna spreadsheet at docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjvSDmSjyQZ0dE5DZk9Ua2ViTDRGZXhrM0w3V2xtdVE#gid=0 and am getting a little (too?) giddy looking at how fast some of the other applications were processed. The VO started processing the application on November 26th and they already have the medical results. I realize it is still very early, but since I haven't heard anything from them yet I was wondering how long it was until you heard back after they started the process?

Getting it all done this early in the process would be the best Christmas present ever, but (much like with the NHL lockout) I don't want to get my hopes too high... Anyway, however long it takes I am glad that there is now a bunch of people who can relate.

Thanks Nole ! It seems like people recommend DHL so I think we'll use that. Hopefully he will get the passport back in a month ore before. ALso congratulations on having ur case finalized and wish you guys a safe trip to Canada

Hi cgnyyz! Honestly you never know with them. Some people get their approvals in weeks from their AOR other wait months, some unfortunately wait years :/. In our case, we got the AOR on October 26 and I kept checking ecas everyday and our case wasn't going to in processes which was starting to worry me and then all of a sudden i got an email from them on Thursday requesting my husband's passport . I went to check our case online and nothing was still updated. I just checked now and it just changed to "in process" as of December 5. So I dont know if they just updated a random date or if they really finished our case in one day ..either way im very grateful. There isnt much I can tell you except be patient and hopefully it won't take much longer. IF your case is straight forward it really shouldnt take much more. Good luck

Hello to everyone.

Me and my husband in the same situation as you all guys...wait mode: (
CIC in Mississauga received our application on Nov16 and Nov27 we got an email letter stating that I as a sponsor met a sponsor requirements.
[Good news we were very happy as it was quite fast.

Now, we are trying to view our application online but without any success. The message that we see is:

Please remove the ability for me or anyone else to view the status of my application and address information on this Web site.

I understand if I do a check mark this will remove my ability to view my application online . The problem is that there is no other option.
Did anyone had similar issues??

Another question, will we receive any notification letter from Vienna office once they start working on our application?

I am a Canadian citizen and have to live here in Vienna as my husband will never agree live separate. I am dreaming every night of a day when will be able to return home: ))

Hey! Don;t worry too much about the issue you are having with ecas, I remember reading many times before that others had the same thing happen to them. I am pretty sure that it will get fixed by itself.

Sigh, this process is much more nervewrecking than I hoped.. Do we know if people in the spreadsheet are generally still updating their information? As much as the fast moving cases (37 days? Really?!) give me hope, some of the longer ones in their scare me.

Oh, and how do I get the fancy side-bar with the flags and dates and all? With the amount of time I spend here right now I might as well make myself at home...

But don't despair, the newer applicants seem to have a lot more luck than those of us who applied in spring...for some mysterious reason...
