Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know my wife got her PR 2 weeks ago. We applied November 2012 (though the application didn't reach Vienna until Feb 2013), so it was a long wait, but worth while of course. She arrives tomorrow!

I've come to this forum a couple of times and just wanted to say thank you to everyone. Good luck going forward.

Its not like the good old days you walk into a business and hand them your CV and get hired on the spot. Unless you know someone...all job postings you have to apply online and the posts are up for a month. Equal opportunity to give anyone a chance to apply. As well give your CV to a couple of head hunters.

Very very valuable info you gave me here Milan..I have been away from Job hunting in Canada for over 24 years. (Last job I had was with Brinks Canada in Toronto and Yes I actually walked in the place and asked to speak to the HR manage and was give an application. 3 weeks late I started training. That easy!...Yes I have a CV and yes I formated it in the Canadian way...Maybe I can sent it over so you can give me your opinion?
I do appreciate your offer of help Milan as we are only human and we get to need other people sometimes in our lives. Just guidance!

I was wondering if the Vienna office actually replies to emails/letters... I'm sponsoring my husband to come to Canada and I got approved as a sponsor by the Mississauga office back in February. Then, our file got transferred to Vienna. I never received an AOR from Vienna, however, so I'm not 100% sure that they've in fact received our application... is there any way to really double-check this? (Do the officers simply ignore the emails which state a "waiting time" of less than 14 months?)

Hello Ica,

Welcome to the forum. Visa offices should be sending out AOR's but i dont know anyone who has receieved one from vienna. Best is to check your status thru e-cas. If you call or email them you might just get a generic response. On ecas it should say application recieved on feb 00,2014 and medical recieved on (date) with that you know they have it.

There are still places you can go in and get hired on the spot but most corporate companies only hire online. If your looking for a specific job or open to anything then you could start applying online before you even come here.

I haven't been on in a while but a big congratulations to all of you who have received good news from Vienna. That must be a great feeling!

To the newest members in waiting, I would just like to encourage you to hang in there. Vienna really seems to be picking up the pace. Also, from my recent experience, I would also encourage you to check your email junk mail as often as you check your inbox.

Here's what has happened to us and I hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else. I am sponsoring my husband from the Czech Republic. We received a doc. request, in one single email, on January 9th, 2014 asking for the permanent residence fee, an updated schedule A, and an updated police certificate. All documents were sent to Vienna by the end of January and the fee was paid the day after the request. There were no further messages from Vienna. Our 14 months passed on May 1st. We then started emailing Vienna. They responded to my husbands email this past Friday saying that they were waiting on the medical that they had requested. My husband nor myself never received a medical request! I will add that we took it upon ourselves to do a new medical in November 2013 since ours had expired a few months prior. Good idea, bad idea...I'm not sure.
I decided to check MY junk mail yesterday afternoon after we found this out and sure enough, there was a message from April 9th, 2014 addressed to my husband telling him that they have been waiting for the new medical and wondering if he had done it? My husband never received the email! Even though he is the applicant, they sent me the email. Why? His email is obviously on file as he has received all other messages.

Bottom line...so much time has been wasted. Vienna communicates using 3 different email addresses. I am grateful that we are back on track but we are in disbelief over this process. The email in my junk mail had a different address then all the previous emails. I just think that if this could happen to us, it can happen to others. Take the time and check! We learned the hard way.

Oh, and Vienna still wants a ANOTHER new medical. This makes 3. We hope this is it.
