Do you guys think it's a good idea to apply for a visitor visa for my wife now? She got rejected for it back in the December, but I wasnt approved as a sponsor then, maybe now it would be different?

Is it a rule that everyone switches to "In Progress" before the passport request, or is it possible to receive one while still in "Application Received" status?

Also which ecas to check, mine as a sponsor or the ecas of the person being sponsored?

1. It is not a rule for sure but with Vienna it's more like a rare thing. It is possible to receive even DM while your status is in "Application Received" I've read this in more than one occasion in this forum.

2. You must check the e-cas of the Principal Applicant not the sponsor's

You can always try. But if I were you I wouldn't waste my energy into this. They can easily re-reject and then you will feel double disappointment. You are a January applicant anyways. I am sure you will hear something from them soon. I believe after August the 15th many of us will hear from Vienna. P A T I E N C E!!

I do not remember if you live in Canada or you are still in Europe ( I think the later)

It's going to be August after on day we are January applicants we wish to hear some news from Vienna it has been a while without any news we hope it will change no email no calls and no Ecas update lets all together pray for this month to ending this waiting stressful.....

I'm not sure if it's a good idea, I'll show my experience. I applied for tourist visa last year in August and they rejected my application. I'm not sure why, but I suppose that Vienna rejected my visa, because after 3-4 days I got e-mail from them for interview. Maybe the interview was the reason. In the letter that I got from Vienna, financial reason was marked. I don't work, but my husband covered everything and I showed them money on my Canadian account.

I agree and feel very bad for everyone affected-especially those in the closed down offices. The one thing that makes me feel nervous is that Vienna has been very late with our application. I have been trying my best to keep positive but it is very hard. We filed our application in April of 2012. Because I live in Quebec it took longer to get sent to Vienna because we have a separate provincial agreement my husband needed to sign regarding language. Vienna received our documents in September 2012. In our letter they stated it should take 7 months to process. I realize things have changed, but the point is when we started this process it was 7 not 11. I think that SPONSOR 2012 is still waiting to hear from Vienna too l and I really feel for both you and your partner.

Tom I think it was you who mentioned that after August 15th there will be return from vacation and people may begin to start hearing some news. I hope this is the case for a whole lot of us on this Vienna thread. I personally feel that if I do not hear anything by the end of August that I must do , call, write someone other than Vienna.

A question: What are peoples' experiences (in terms of the support they receive) when they contact their MP office?

my MP helped me a lot for our process, but i know when i contacted MP they told me that if is before 10 months of your process we cvan not help you a lot , but if is more than 10 months waiting period we can contact embassy and see what is goign own woth your file, but i really appreciate their help they were the best ...
hope some of you guys are going to have some good news even before August 15 ,. i know how you guys are feeling

My consultant has sent Vienna two emails, basic emails just requesting an update on the status and we have heard nothing. It's very discouraging and I myself am just wondering what the hell is going on with Vienna. Last year they sent out second stage AOR's all the time and now they leave people in the dark? I think it's ridiculous. It doesn't hurt to send someone an email just to let them know their app is there and they are in fact processing it. But that is my personal opinion. This process has become my personal hell. It puts a toll on everyone involved and affects your life in a big way. It basically puts our life on hold.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Even though we applied in march it gets discouraging when you have no idea when your process will be done. You can't plan anything or look forward to anything. The only thing we can go by is looking back at the people who applied before you and see if they have received AOR or PPR and then that can be hard when you see they are still in waiting. That is why I think the cases that are complete in 3-6 months have some connections with visa officers. I wish we had an idea of how the work... how many applications does one officer get. I'm guessing they don't multi-task where they can process more applications at a time. And if there is such a back log of applications why not hire more staff especially during the summer months. If my wife and I survive this then I am certain we can survive anything life brings us in the future.

Last year ws same, we didnt received any news from Vienna most of App,licnts until end of August or begining os September when they called us for the interview, as i mentioned in previous emails, most of VO are in summer vacations, and it is really slow period for them to work .
