Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I'm sure everyone here feels a bit nervous while waiting. Well, these last few days I've been feeling it a bit extra nervous so I thought I'd share my situation and, just vent.

A few days ago I went for my test and I passed. But in the interview afterwards the CO didn't like discrepancies between what the trips I put in my original application vs the RQ. Along with the head shake from side to side, the warning that my application would be reviewed my a judge and I would either get my oath invitation or a CJ interview - the latter which can take up to 3 years.

The reason? I have 30+ stamps on my passport and the heck if I remember the details of all these. But I know that they're all from 2 to 15 days each. A little extra background: after graduation I went away for a couple of years while my application for PR processed. I applied about 4 months after I met the requirements for citizenship - likely with a 3 month cushion.

I guess I was a bit too confident that my process would be fast - like all the friends and people I know who have applied. When I look at my profile, I can't help but to think I have a good one:

- Graduated from a Canadian university after 5 years of study and work.
- Property owner for 8 years
- Stable job
- Taxes paid for 12 years.
- No incidents with the law or immigration in any country.

I've been lucky Canada has hosted most of my adult life. Yet I applied mid 2011 and here I am - waiting, maybe having to see a CJ, and with the small but real possibility of my citizenship being rejected because of my inability of keeping accurate track of my travel - that would be feel strange, to say the least.

Now life happens and I'm taking a contract for a few months in a different country, opening the door a tiny bit more to what I think would be an unreasonable decision: I'm not fit to be Canadian.

I know there are many of you waiting for longer and likely with equally or better background that my case. I'm just writing as a venting exercise.

I already feel better :)

Sorry to hear about it. But you will get the citizenship.

Unfortunately a lot of things in our life are outside of control.

Hi mojojojo,

Sorry about the long wait, I am in the same boat :-) different circumstances but stuck in the same waiting game! I would advise you to extend your PR card (in case it expires soon) before leaving for your new job as it will be difficult to extend it from abroad (might take long to renew and to avoid the possibility of getting stuck abroad). Wish you all the best!

Hi Mojojojo,

Feel sorry for you being down as this time of the year.

But I don't see any reason for worry at all.

Hey you've paid taxes for 12 years, own a property etc. what else would the govt. want.

Also, with your opportunity abroad, they should be even more happier, since you'll definitely make more money and pay taxes.

Trust me you are in excellent shape and doing the right thing.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Have fun.

Thanks and Regards.

hey, I have the same situation with you. I had a lot of travels in the last few year because of the job. I also applied in 2011 and submitted my RQ just 6 months ago and still waiting. I believe you will be fine. there is no reason not granting you the citizenship if you have a Canadian job and living in Canada. In addition, the burden of evidence is only balance of probability, not beyond a reasonable doubt. If you have a job in Canada, pay taxes, treat Canada as your home, have a stable address, frequently visit your family doctors, I believe you already met burden of evidence. CJ is also a human being, their job is to assess your eligibility and help you obtain citizenship, not making your life harder.

Happy New Year everyone!

Thank you so much for the good wishes.

A bit of a late reply, but I found that the reading the forum was stressing me out. As I submitted the last post I told myself I wouldn't check the forum until 2014. I must say, for whatever reason, having that restriction made me feel better.

Thank you again for the words of support. I will likely check again in February, unless of course I have some news to share :)

Good luck everyone!

I'm in the same boat as you. A lot of travel. I guess CIC can only handle people who doesn't travel.

Come on guys...this is the 21st century..and Canada is a developed country..and we live in a global world. Don't stress yourself out demonizing CIC ( I think we tend to do it based on our natural nervousness combined with all these things we read on here). Fine..agreed many things have not been working as well as they should have - especially in 2011/2012- when all these changes and RQs and process changes were happening at rapid speed. I am just trying to look at it from the perspective of a CIC bureaucrat everyday - walking into piles of papers. They are streamlining as every one has raised a hue and cry and complained in the press and online over time.

I mean how bad would they look if they held travel against you ? come on....it sounds so ridiculous. Hang in there ! All will be well. :)

also have you ever had RQ? try waiting for 2 years on RQ or even longer...then come back and we talk about what you mentioned above.

This is precisely why I'm surprised this process is taking so long.

Hi mojojojo,

First, I hope you good luck and don't worry about that it will come sooner or later.
You said that you worked. Do you have your work certificates for the last 4 years? those can proove that you were living here at least.

Finally... Yes! got the invitation for oath!

I'm just catching up to all the good comments as I didn't come back to the any forums in the last couple of months - the best move I did, seeing everyone's experiences and trying to compare was making me crazy.

Thank you everyone for the support!

For those that ask if I had evidence of being here, I did. I provided about 2 inches worth of bank statements, copy of all hydro and phone bills which I luckily had, tax statements, e-very-thing!

Good luck everyone. And if you're nervous, I'd suggest limiting yourself access to all forums. It's good for your health :)
