Your application will be processed in Ottawa. That is the processing centre for American applicants - that's where my husbands application is being processed. I'm not sure about the NY one, but I have heard that if there are any issues with your application (such as a lot of red flags raised about the genuineness of the relationship) they'll send it to LA.

So in regards to this question, my husband is immigrating to Canada from the U.S. papers are all filed as of Sept. 2013, medicals expire after 1 year, so if the process is taking roughly 15 months.....can we get an extension on the medicals or do we have to get new one done?

You can apply for an extension on the medicals if they ask.

Maybe I have misunderstood something, I thought he had to land before his medical expires? They expire end of July, I only act if I'm contacted by CIC? Thank you again, I'm just desperate to avoid any misunderstandings.

You land when you receive the COPR, and the expiration date of the COPR is the expiration date of the medicals. If they want you to redo them, they will send you a letter. So don't do anything until you hear from them.

Some visa offices grant extensions, others always request that the applicant redo the medical. I don't know which category CPP-Ottawa falls into.

Just to clarify, the 15 months posted processing time is not an average. It's how long it took to process 80% of applications. 9 months is a bit more accurate for an average time, as 50% of applications are done within that time. If your app is straightforward, no red flags, strong relationship evidence, then it will most likely be done in 8-10 months.

OMG! Thank you Canuck_in_uk! I was pretty sure it probably wouldn't take 15 months, I was just kindof "bracing myself" for that possibility. I Doooo hope your right. Our app. is pretty straight forward. :)
