We tried to get an account at CIBC but they said my partner couldn't get an a account until he was a PR. We also tried another of the big banks (Scotiabank maybe?) and got the same response. I think RBC Royal Bank also told us no, but then I realized that the rules on their website differed from that so we went back with his ID and got him added onto my account, so it's now a joint account. I also have an account attached to that with RBC Bank [USA] which goes through the U.S. banking system. I later asked if he could be added to that account and that was also no problem. Prior to him coming here for a long extended visit, one of the U.S. banks closed his account because of a money dispute so I'm not sure any bank there wants to give him an account, but it was fine on the RBC Bank account.

Ok, so we're getting reaaally close to sending this application in at last. All of the posts here have been very helpful! A few last questions:

I am using the outland application paperwork and applying outside of Canada. I have listed in the paperwork that I do live with my sponsor, but we specified in our evidence of relationship that we understand this is cohabitation under a VISITOR status.

We're looking at the addresses that we can send our application to, and there are different options:

Application address for spouses currently living in Canada
and Application address for spouses (it doesn't specify where the spouse may live)

We want to make sure we send it to the correct address.

Thanks!
