Hi Guys,
Again this is new territory for me. I've applied for a US visa and had my appointment today. Previously I would only get a B2 visa that is valid for 1 year because of the reciprocity arrangement with the country I'm a citizen of. Which means I've been applying for a new US visa roughly every year and can now do it in my sleep with my eyes closed.

Today was the first year I've done it as a Canadian PR and as I was walking away from the guy at the window (visa was granted as usual of course) I jokingly said, "see you next year." Only for him to respond, no, your visa will be valid for 10 years now that you are a PR.

I didn't know that. Came as a huge surprise to me!! And now I'm very excited because that may be the very last time I apply for a US Visa, because by the time 10 years is up... I'll be a Canadian citizen and will no longer need a US visa!!!!!

Those that have done this before...Please tell me its true... Am I really going to get a 10 year US visa? :D :D

Great! I don't know any PR holders that applied for US visa after PR so that came as a surprise.

I went to Ottawa. Good luck on your application Ojeola. I hope you already have appointment. I booked mine even before I had PPR.

Is it your passport will expire in 2023?
my question is, it will valid if our passport is expire before the visa?

The visa remain valid even if your passport expire. You can always show them the visa at POE in the spent of expired passport.

Because of reciprocity, Philippine passport holders can typically get 10-year B1/B2 visas even without PR or work permits.

Hello,
Sorry, I'm pulling this up to ask a related question.
In the online application, there is no question about applicant's resident status, so how do they know if you are a PR holder or not?
