For express entry documentation I found this:

Medical exams
You must have a medical exam before you apply. Your family members must also have one, even if they aren’t coming with you.

We won’t approve your permanent resident application if your health:

• is a danger to Canada’s public health or safety
• would cause too much demand on health or social services in Canada

When the panel physician completes the medical exam, they will give you an:

• information printout sheet
• IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form

You must provide a copy of these documents when you apply online.

Don’t complete your medical exam until you get your invitation to apply. The results of your exam must be valid at the time you submit your application for permanent residence. For this reason, it is a good idea to complete the exam as close as possible to the date you submit your online application.

Interesting how different it is for different types of applications. Sorry for the confusion - I assumed because this thread was in the Family Sponsorship forum, that everyone was following sponsorship guidelines.

As far as I understand, you MUST submit the medical exam report while submitting the PR application. I guess medical exam is valid for first three months so they suggest to take exam few weeks before you plan to submit because otherwise your medical exam will be expired.

Thanks for reply but I found that validity of the test is 12 months:

Validity
Your medical exam results are valid for 12 months only. If you do not come to Canada as a permanent resident within that time, you may need to have another exam.

Yes, you must enter Canada before 1 year passes after your medical exam... that's why it's recommended that you do it after getting all the other documents, so that you have more time. But I don't know if there is a different validity for applying. I guess the exam should be as new as possible.

As previously mentioned, yes- for Express Entry, it is required upfront. But again, for Spousal Sponsorship applications, which is what this forum is for- applicants have the option to include it or do it when they are asked to. Two different types of applications, two different set of rules.

It is the formal way CIC confirms that you meet medical requirements. Although medical institutions give your medical results to you you are not cleared formally until you see approval by CIC in your account.

I got my credit card charged on August 1st (Tuesday) by FBI. Does it mean that my finger prints got accepted or is it still under question/processing. Thanks.

I don't know, but I guess it's processing. When did your application arrive at FBI ?

Hi. I don't really know for sure. I didn't reach that stage yet, but I think it is around a month or so after submitting the PR application.

My application was received on May 17th, 2017. And credit card was charged August 1st. Don't know if charging credit card means that finger prints are accepted.

My CC was charged on Fri, 4th Aug and they received my application on May 22nd.
I called them and they told me its still under process.

I called yesterday and they were processing applications received on 25th May.

I got a reply to my email today(08/08/2017 4pm EST).

According to the FBI's records, your request(s) was/were successfully completed and was/or will be mailed on 08/10/2017

Surprising to see that it takes 2 days after 'completed status' to be put on mail!!
My application received date is May 18th and paid by money order and to be delivered to US address.
