actually, no he doesn't. he can come as a visitor, business or otherwise, without landing as a pr. it is not required for him to land the next time he enters canada. the only rule is he must land by the expiration date listed on the COPR. he can certainly come for work, then land when he plans to in December.
Ok, thanks. Very different from what I was told.

Hi!

I am sorry, I am sure this question has been answered so many times, but I am sending in my application tomorrow (Outland Common-law, but I reside in Canada on a study permit), and I was wondering which address I send it to?

Spouses, common-law or conjugal partner and dependent children:
CPC Mississauga
P.O. Box 3000, Station A
Mississauga, ON
L5A 4N6

Spouse and Common-law Partner (currently living in Canada):
CPC-Mississauga
P.O. Box 5040, Station B
Mississauga, ON
L5A 3A4

I am currently living in Canada, but I am applying outland!

Also, newb question maybe, what is the best way to send it? Through Canada Post, or if FedEx or the like better?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

If you're mailing it via Canada Post, the first address is the correct one.

If sending it via courier (FedEx, etc), you need to use a different address:

Sponsorship: (Spousal)
Case Processing Centre – Mississauga
2 Robert Speck Parkway,
Suite 300
Mississauga, ON
L4Z 1H8

I would strongly suggest sending it via courier.

Hello all,

I'm a June outland applicant who's JUST received notification of my CoPR being sent in the mail. I'm excited and relieved and countless other emotions! :D

While reflecting on the time spent compiling the application on our own, my husband and I started to calculate cost, hours, etc. Would it be helpful (or even appropriate) for me to post a summary here for others who might be at the beginning stages? Or is there another thread that would be more relevant? I know this forum was without doubt my lifeline at times, and I'd love to give a little back if possible.

Thanks!
Consuelo

I think that would be a great idea. I'm all through now too but it definitely would have been nice to know what I was getting myself into when I started the process. As well as how much money we were going to be spending on this. Because you're right, this forum saved me so many times. I saw someone say in a post to get rid of their representative and just use the forum for questions, and if you don't have any red flags, I would say that is great idea. This forum answered all of my questions.

That would be very helpful! My husband and I are still filling out our application and we have our other documents ready to go but we have no idea how we should put it all together.

Yes, for example, I had almost everything ready to go when I finally went to get my FBI clearance and found out it was a 4 month wait...I had a dismissed charge so I didn't want to send my application without the clearance and an explanation, so I ended up having to wait 4 months to send mine off. And of course, right when I got mine back, I found out they had changed the rules on being able to get a third party to get your FBI clearance in a matter of weeks. Good times! Anyway, a timeline would be quite helpful for future applicants.

Hi Ryann!

I notice that you said you had a dismissed charge. I'm sponsorship my husband from the US and he has one as well. We provided all the documentation about it being dropped and removed from his juvenille record but I just wanted to know if you had any issues. Did they request anything additional from you?

Thanks!

Nope! They never said a thing about it. I would think that if the charges were dismissed AND it was on his juvenile record, he shouldn't have a problem at all.
Mine was a DUI and not technically juvenile since I was 18. I completed a pretrial program so they dismissed the charges. I thought Canada might see that as not good enough since it's a felony here but apparently it was all good. I sent notarized copies of my dismissal paperwork and the sentencing from the judge where he didn't take my license and that's it.
I did prepare a criminal rehab application just in case because I was so nervous about getting denied but didn't end up needing it.

I'm about to post my summary, including the actual Table of Contents from the submission. When I searched, it took some effort to find a post where someone broke out the organization of the pages themselves. In the end I may have overdone the organization a bit, but I wanted it to be simple for a VO to find what was needed. ;D
