I have an importing/landing question...

I am currently living with my husband in Smithers, BC. My belongings are in a storage facility in Bellingham, WA. It is a two day drive down to the border from here. We are considering our options. My truck made the trek across the continent towing a trailer, but I highly doubt it could tow a trailer up here. That leaves two options..

1. I drive down and tow the truck back behind a rental truck.

2. We take the bus down and drive just the rental truck back.

If we go with option 2, how do I claim the truck on the BSF186 form for importation?

Does anyone have any other suggestions that might be cost effective? Has anyone ever imported a vehicle when the vehicle is already in the country?

Thank you. :)

Here's a link to Exporting/Importing vehicles US to Canada. I think the steps on this forum post are a good start.

So if I got an email today requesting RPRF to be paid and proof that my common-law spouse and I reside together, does that mean that I could be close to the end?

We are common law and I have been a visitor to Canada since the application started so I am on the lease and I have a NS driver's license with our address on it. I plan to send those two things but all bills are in my boyfriend's name since he is supporting me financially until I can work. Otherwise, I sent loads of info proving we are a real couple, they just seem to be requesting proof that we still reside together.

EDIT: The thing that worries me the most with my application is that I have an old arrest where the charges were dropped and I sent all the proof of that and I have been allowed into Canada multiple times since the arrest with no problem. I would say that I am admissible seeing as I travel in and out all the time. So if they were going to need more information on that, would that have come in this first document request email? Or is there a possibility that they maybe haven't gotten far enough into my application to realize that?

I can't decide if this is a good or a bad email. Thoughts?

I believe that they send the request for payment towards the end. It sounds like good news to me. How long has the application been in process?

I sent in June 1
AOR on June 21
SA on August 23
Doc request on August 29

It took 83 days for my partner to get SA which is much longer than the usual and now I got this request so soon afterwards so who knows. I hope it means it's nearing the end! Just paid the fee and scanning the documents tomorrow to get them sent off for August 30.

I've seen some US applicants on here get it in less time. Hoping for the best for you. :)

Same for you! Looks like we're close to the same timeline here. The speed they're processing now is blowing my mind. This forum has been a life saver for both answering my questions AND for my sanity as I await the results..:)

My husband and I are celebrating our first anniversary on Labour Day. We are renewing our vows as we have talked about doing every year on our anniversary. :)

Sorry, I'm getting rather excited. ;D

Hi All! I'm new here - just doing some research for my husband's application. We have been married since February but the document side of this process has been quite time consuming.
I'm Canadian living in BC and my husband is American living in WA. Looking for any sort of advice for compiling supporting documents or things I may not have thought about to include in our application. When should we have his medical done? Also assuming we should do that before submitting? How long is it taking for the FBI check to be done? I'm reading it's upwards of 30 days! Just looking for any advice or input at this point! Thanks in advance - I'm really enjoying reading everyone's stories on here, so helpful! - Cheers

The FBI check is taking about three to four months if you do it yourself. I've heard you can use a channeler now, which would cut down on the time. Yes, have the medical done upfront. It saves a lot of processing time. I don't know what documents you have included, but if you don't have any red flags...it should go smoothly. Best of luck!!
