There a re many factors to consider here. While Ottawa processes US cases, not all cases are for US citizens applicants. Ottawa processes most cases filed in the US for people living in the US. Some US-filed cases are filtered in Mississauga and sent to other VO's if the applicant is not a US citizen, but many are sent to Ottawa if the non-US citizen meets a specific criteria. It is also not about forgery only. US documentation is easier and quicker to verify or more believable than those coming from other countries. Also, US citizens are less likely to wish to come to Canada to improve their standard of living and therefore those cases are less subjected to scrutiny by CIC because they are believed less likely to be fraudulent. My case was processed in Ottawa while I was not a US citizen because I was living there at the time and it took longer than most of the other cases filed in Ottawa during the same period, in part because I still had to submit documents from my country of citizenship (along with US originated documents), but of course it took a lot less time than it would have taken if my file had been sent to the VO that handles cases for my country of citizenship. There are, however, many of other VO's that will process cases way quicker than Ottawa.Confused987 said:What I don't understand is why some countries visa offices process application faster than Ottawa? I know Canada has to be careful with fraud but I always figured foreign documents are lot easier to forge than American documents. Also some couples are married for over five years and have kids, shouldn't those files be easier to determine if any forgery or not? I guess I always thought US citizens married to Canadian citizen wouldn't take as long as other countries.
