We origionally went through Cogent, they do all the FBI checks for job applications and the like around here. I called CIC and the person I spoke with said 'should be ok', but I don't trust should.
Do I need special paper/card stock? I know the printout/application that you mean, but not sure if anything special needs to be done with it.
Thanks again!

Third party agencies, even fbi-approved agencies, will not be acceptable for immigration purposes. It needs to come direct from the FBI. I say this because we, too, called CIC and were told they would be acceptable through an fbi-approved agency. We had to redo ours and submit direct to the FBI.

Usually third party FBI checks don't have the watermark CIC needs to verify it. You can test this by making a photocopy. If it doesn't have the watermark, it's no good.

CIC Call Centre Agents need a lot more training. Most of them are clueless.

It does say on it 'void if copied', so I'm guessing that means it has the watermark. But, if Muffy had to re-do theirs, I'll likely have to do ours too. Booooourns!
Thanks though :)

Yeah, ours had the watermark, as well. It was a no go. Don't get me wrong.....I hope somehow they'll allow for yours to go through. That was just our experience. It infuriated me because we got the clearance from CIC, but I learned a little late that sometimes that just doesn't mean anything. The first one we sent was "lost in the mail". Had to get it done again, through the channeler nonetheless. Then we get the letter stating it had to go direct through the FBI so we ended up having to do a total of 3 haha....you live and you learn :) If I were you, I'd get one direct from the FBI and send it in, and send them an email as well. Good luck :)

I spoke with someone from Cogent to see if there would be a followup letter from the FBI (nope!) and apparently the FBI is moving away from having the cards sent in and going to the digital option. So, it's like CIC has not caught up with the direction the FBI/technology is going. Frustrating! Ugh. Anyway! We might have found a local police station that will do it. And if they do, hopefully it won't take long to hear back from the FBI. Fingers crossed!

Going back to the States in 2 wks to land!

Question on the B4....how detailed do I have to be with what's in my containers?

Can I say "30 CDs" or do I have to list each one?

"Photos" or list how many?

"Cookware" or list each pot and pan?

"Silverware" or list each fork & spoon?

"Knick knacks" or list each lamp, picture and clock?

Thanks!

Just list "CD's - $____"
"Cookware - $ ______"

They are not interested in how much but just a ballpark value.

Happy Landing :D

I added you based on your timeline under your username. If you know the date your application was received and if you got AOR, I can add those too.

Hi guys,

I have around 150 pictures to take with me at interview. Should I put all that in a album or leave it like that is file. Whats your suggestion?

Also I need a letter from my landlord about me and my wife(sponsor) living at same residence as a couple. Anybody has any suggestions about how the letter should look like?

Use standard full block formal letter - template on Word.

Address
City/Province Postal Code
Telephone #

Date

To Whom It May Concern:

Introduce self - name and job title are enough. State self is landlord of property X (your address here) and how long he has owned property.

State how long you and your wife have lived there. State he has observe you both living together in a relationship for X time.

Sincerely,
Landlord's Handwritten Signature

Landlord's Name

He can add some fluff to it if he wants - like "They are happy, cute, etc blah blah." But it's fluff. It doesn't matter to the core content of the letter.
