Ok So this is what I follow if I'm getting married to an american with no children, I'm the Canadian one. We will get married in the states. ( I initially wanted to get married in Jamaica, but it won't happen)

That's right :) As long as there's no dependents and he's American and you're Canadian, it's pretty much the exact same :) If some of those links don't work, just let me know :)

Hubby surprised me today. He said "I hope my PPR actually doesn't come soon..." "Why?" "Cuz then we (meaning me since I can work haha) can keep paying my car and we wouldn't have to worry about trying to get a loan to pay it off to get the title!" True, but it still sucks that he isn't able to work or go to college :( At least he is optimistic about this!

I'm a little worried about our medicals, I'm wondering if someone can clarify things for me.

We did them last Nov but were delayed with completing the rest of the application until April. We received RPRF and PPR two weeks ago, and were given 60 days to return those documents to Ottawa (which by that point, our medicals would have expired). We'll be sending the PRF receipt and passport in next week (had to scrape and borrow some money), which doesn't give much time before the medicals expire. I'm just wondering if we're past the point that they'll request new medicals? Or is it more likely that they've extended them since we're almost through processing? OR would they expedite a CoPR so that he'll have to land before the medical expiry?

We're just a little concerned because the only DMP in Arizona charged my husband $500 and we can't afford for him to redo the medical, especially with a move to Canada on the horizon. :o

Hi, I just responded to CPP-Ottawa with the information they requested. I am sponsoring my U.S common-law husband and am hoping to hear back from Ottawa soon as to the approval of my sponsorship. I see that everyone is talking about E-CAS. What is that? Do I have access to this? or will this come once I receive approval of sponsorhip.

Thank you so much.

E-Cas is the Electronic Check Application Status system and you can check it here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/ -- on the right it says "check application status"

You will need your application number/file number or receipt number, although mine wasn't visible until I actually got approved as a sponsor and received an actual number, and the PA's birth date and country of origin.

Congrat to all who got AIP and CoPR. Totally jealous :)

Congrats on the PPR :)

Your medicals need to be valid at the time you land. However, if all that's missing is the medical exam results CPP-O has the option to request that they be extended for a year so I would suggest you ask them to do so when you send them the scanned copy of your passport and the PPR.

Take a look at http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/medical-exam-validity-extension-for-additional-12-months-new-cic-bulletin-t106229.0.html
