Andddd we are DONE. We landed today at the border and it was so easy. Kind, courteous and efficient. We were inside for maybe 20-25 minutes. They processed my COPR and then my "goods to follow" form. {all goods are to follow as we are not actually moving yet}. They attached a copy of my COPR to the inside of my passport and said to remove it once I receive my card. Grateful for this experience and it was highly informative/educational. I hope to help others along the way both in this forum and in person through various means. This forum was a lifesaver!

congrats! I'm still waiting!!

How long after the background check goes into process on MyCIC have people been seeing their DM's? Mine just changed to In Progress today on MyCIC! 8)

I'm worried I will have to re-upload a Form 5669 though because I tried to validate with the "Ongoing" boxes checked back in January but it wouldn't let me so I entered 01-2017 for the last address/workplace. I later read on the forums people said if you open an entire new form and don't try to edit your previously saved one it should work...so even if I have to upload a new document how long would that perhaps delay my application? A month?

Thank you!

Thanks n best of luck for future life in Canada

Thanks! I hope your COPR gets to you quickly as well. :)

Hello everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to read this in advance.

I'm a Canadian and living in the US (green card holder) and my husband is an American-born citizen. We are now living in the US and I have had my green card for about a year. We have started the my husband's Outland application for PR. Now that we have decided to move back to Canada, can I still keep my green card? I have heard you can go through a process where you are allowed to get it back within 2 years but I don't know details. If you can defer, can it be done every 2 years or just the initial 2 years? I'm not sure if I want to give it back because we don't know our distant future plans especially since my husband and future kids will be dual citizens.

Has anyone gone through a similar process with green cards? If so, I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks again!

Thank you so much for your reply prvc.

I do have a conditional Green card. We were married in June of 2014 and my green card was authorized in march 2016. It will expire in march 2018.

We will be relocating to Canada this summer. Is it possible to get the conditional status lifted earlier than 90 days before they expiry?

If that's not possible, then I am assuming that I won't be able to apply for a reentry permit if I move to Canada before 2018. Are there anyways to get around this?

My husband and I currently live in Buffalo, NY and his family is also in the area. We would be moving 1.5 hours north to Toronto, so coming back to the states regularly would not be an issue for us and having an address in the states also would not be an issue. Does that play any role in this?

I would like to keep my green card with the ultimate goal for me to gain dual citizenship, as our plans for the future are still unsure and we may come back to the states pending how our jobs workout.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
