Just reading this thread for the first time in a while and we are amazed to see applicants in 2015 receiving their PR already! We applied in August 2014 and still no DM! Our application is very straightforward and the waiting is endless! We sent for our notes and have had our MP contact the office to no avail. We can only hope there is a reason for this madness :(

Seems we're at the whim of whichever officer(s) is assigned to our case and then also how long your file waits in each queue. I'm guessing we're in some queue to be reviewed by a senior officer or something since we already got a "recommended pass" and everything else was a pass. Who knows what the hold up is.

Hi all,

An acquaintance of mine is doing research on the well-being and support of those going through spouse or partner visa process. She said she was motivated to look into it after her sister went through the spousal visa process, and she learned that much of what she went through affected her well-being adversely.

This research is through the psychology department of the University of Copenhagen.

Normally I wouldn't post something like this, but she plans to publish the findings in hopes that immigration agencies will change their practices for the better.

The whole process takes less than 10 minutes and can be found by <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/19xW7TytLts86LDP5R6zBGHwL06JNfU2wrb8ZDjm01Qc/viewform">clicking here!</a>

Thanks for your help, and please feel free to pass it along! ;D

Done!

So, I remember sending away a pre-paid envelope for my returned documents and I was wondering what they do when you change addresses. Does anyone know if they switch the address on the envelope to the updated ecas address? One would hope, and I guess I'll find out eventually.

The info leaflet with the COPR gives you a couple choices to land as an outland applicant. You can actually land inland as an outland applicant by making an appointment at an inland immigration office. From what I've read the process is the same as just landing at the border, but to get an appointment can take 2 months.

That is correct! I filed as an Outland applicant. I contacted the Call Centre on July 10th and they emailed me back 4 days later with an appointment time. (July 31st) So the wait isn't all that bad. Plus I am unable to get to the border anytime before that to land anyways. I just thought it was strange that they were asking me for more photos. (and more $$ spent...)

Hey everyone! Nothing to report here, just thought that I'd say hello! :) I'm eagerly awaiting stage one SA...they're apparently processing May 19th right now, and our application was received May 20th - was hoping for an early birthday present (it's tomorrow!) but I'm beginning to think no such luck...CIC wouldn't be so kind, would they? :P

Here's hoping for next week!

Happy Friday, everybody - any fun plans for the weekend? ;D

You still might get a birthday present tomorrow. You never know when that status will actually show up.

We're invited to a BBQ by our MP this weekend, so we look forward to that. (It looks like it will happen during a break in the rain, so hopefully the rain will be timed right.

Wow that actually sounds like a cool time.

Guess they really want votes :P But seems like a decent person though

That'd be the best birthday present! (Well, getting totally approved would be way better but lets be honest about how likely THAT is, haha)

And I'll cross my fingers that the rain holds out for you! Have fun :)

My husband got his COPR on July 2, he waited till July 7th (my BD) to tell me about it. But, I found out early, haha. I had to feign surprise, but ya good luck, that would be an excellent BD present.

How do you get invited to your MP's BBQ? lol. Sounds like fun.

She sent out a newsletter inviting everyone. She's actually having two in different parts of the riding but we missed the first one because we were out of town. I think it will be fun. They are having activities and makeup for children and everything. We don't have any children, but it sounds fun anyway.

That's pretty cool, I think our riding is too big to invite to a BBQ, haha. Have a great time!

I just found out our app received a DM yesterday. Eagerly awaiting more news on the decision!

Congrats on the DM, lilikoi. I'm assuming you're approved unless you've heard of some problems by now.
