Medical extensions are only granted if the processing time is such that the applicant would not have a reasonable time to land within the validity of the first medical. CIC defines "reasonable" as "long enough to arrange travel and move," not "long enough to move at the most convenient time."
In case someone decides not to land within the date stated on the COPR, can he let it expire and then reapply?
Yes, but the sponsorship application would have to begin anew, from scratch.
