What happened to the medical extensions that were handed out earlier?

Medical extensions are only granted if the processing time is such that the applicant would not have a reasonable time to land within the validity of the first medical. CIC defines "reasonable" as "long enough to arrange travel and move," not "long enough to move at the most convenient time."

In case someone decides not to land within the date stated on the COPR, can he let it expire and then reapply?

Yes, but the sponsorship application would have to begin anew, from scratch.

I got In Process 7 days after SA, and then got an email requesting my CSQ.

Extremely fast. Don't rely on this timeframe as typical; both last year and this year Ottawa seems to have processed applications much more quickly in the summer than in the other seasons.

And the story continues....2nd Meds completed on June 15th 2015....13JUL2015 Got a letter today exactly the same as in June, not indicating this was the second request, requesting more Meds and we have 90 days...The odd thing is when my hubby went to the CIC Doctor on June 15th, 2015 the only instruction the Dr. had was a request for chest X-rays..so now we wait for another Dr appointment to find out what the heck they want now...personally I think the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing and no one has bothered to hope the file from the Dr.....I requested case notes on June 22nd, heres hoping this will shed light on the situation...and the wait continues....

I was searching this thread earlier and my heart goes out to you and your partner. I hope everything resolves itself quickly for you. None of us deserve the extreme stress of unnecessary hoops and the time that goes with it.

Congratulations! It should indeed be positive news, if you have not been asked for documents earlier.

I hear ya...we are STILL stuck at in process for SA. Called again this morning and the agent is putting in another request to CPC-M to figure out what's going on. Although she didn't outright say it, it sounded like the file had maybe gone to the wrong office at some point, but it's back at Mississauga. I wish we had ordered notes...but at this point I feel like it's a waste of time, at least for this part of the process.

this is starting to get funny on the verge of insane....the CIC Drs office is now confused..as of this morning they had no idea what CIC wants(our 2nd Medical request letter is dated July 8th, 2015) and the next appointment is not until 08AUG2015...appointment booked...and now there is nothing that we can do but wait for case notes..lets hope CIC puts something in my Hubbys Medical file so the Dr knows what to do...I wish there was a Case Manager that we could contact cause all this hurry up and wait is stressing me beyond....

I think the lack of a contact person that can update us on the status of applications or point out ways to clear up complications is a huge part of why this is so stressful. I guess they figure some people will be calling near daily for 9 months+. I'm guessing my application sat on the shelf for another 9 months after I sent them the information they asked for.

There's no way someone can give any details regarding the information needed, Sunset? I know I emailed them (and it was after the 16 month standard wait time) but it took 5 weeks for them to reply back that they had no information for me. But they may be able to give you more detail considering they're asking for specific info.

I just called the call centre and they sent out paperwork today. She said congrats you were authorized for permanent residency! Woohoo! Thank you all for the bit of outlet of pent up frustration. I'll update on the rest of the process as it goes.
