Just got the best early birthday present ever: Decision Made in ECAS!!!

We received my application for permanent residence on December 6, 2013.
We started processing my application on June 25, 2014.
Medical results have been received.
A decision has been made on my application. The office will contact me concerning this decision.

And there is absolutely no way this is a negative decision, right? They requested my sponsor's proof of residency at the end of May and we supplied that within 1 day (lease, hydro bill, proof of enrolment at U of T and bank information). They haven't requested anything else since then.

You always hear from them prior to a negative decision because the rules require you be given an opportunity to address their concerns before rejection.

So no, it means your COPR has been printed.

Got COPR, thanks everyone for your help. For those waiting, it will come!

Quick question now, does my sponsor have to be with me when I land? I thought I once read they had to accompany me but i could be making this all up.

For outland, no. You can land on your own.

Re: US outland applicants' thread :) Compiling supporting evidence

Sorry, couldn't figure out how to start a new topic. I'm trying to compile nearly 5 years of supporting evidence for our application, which we hope to file as an outland application after our wedding in September. I live in BC, my partner lives in Virginia. For supporting evidence on the question of how we communicate while apart, I've photocopied envelopes with postmarks (a couple for each year) and have photocopied the text of a few of the notes/cards. How many of those should I include? (The pile is about 6 inches high!) I've printed a sample page of screencaps of lists of emails for each year -- each page only fits about a month's worth of emails. We've exchanged over 2500 emails so far. I've printed the text of a few. How many should I include? I've received a package of printouts from my phone service for each of two different years. Each package has over ten pages of lists of calls. We talk on the phone twice a day. I thought I'd include the cover letter and first page, which shows eg. p1 of 10 for each year. The cost to get any printouts older than for the previous year is $250.00. Should I include the whole multiple-page package? I have LOTS of material, but I'm wondering how a low-level bureaucrat in an airless, windowless cubicle might feel having to wade through mountains of paper. I confess I haven't yet read all 201 pages on this thread, so forgive me if my questions have already been answered. Thanks for your help.

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I don't unfortunately haven't found the answer yet and don't have enough time to read through every page.

My husband and I are applying outland and have been filling out the forms. There are three questions in particular, though, that I'm not sure how to answer:

27: Have you and your sponsor lived together?
I have spent periods of time in Canada during my university summer vacations which have ranged from a month to three and a half months, during which time I stayed with him and his parents at their home. Does this qualify as "living together" or should I check "no" as we were not formally cohabiting?

28: Are you currently living with your sponsor?
[No] => When did your sponsor return to Canada?
We are not currently living together, however I am confused by what it wants from me in regards to his return to Canada. He has never resided outside Canada and his last visit to the USA was a matter of days. Should I fill in the date of list last visit ending or just leave this blank?

30: Do you receive financial support from your sponsor?

We trade money back and forth as necessary, but generally provide for ourselves financially. Does this count as financial support? And if so, should I mark it "see attached" to reference the Paypal receipts we are including for these transactions?

Thank you for any information or suggestions you may have-- I'm very concerned about answering these incorrectly or leaving them incomplete.

Whenever there is a gray area, when more than one answer could be correct, it's good to provide an explanation on a separate page.

For the first question, I would say that you have not lived together because you were essentially staying with your sponsor but living out of a suitcase - your household belongings were not in the same place.

Second, list the date when your sponsor returned to Canada and provide an explanation.

Third, yes, you do support each other financially and you definitely want to show that. Love is blind, but money talks.

Finally, have you considered applying inland? It can make a lot of sense just to move there and apply inland.

Applying inland is not the greatest idea for an American applicant. They can apply outland and stay with their sponsor the whole time, and outland is much, much faster than inland for Americans. (5-8 months vs. 1 year and 7 months)

Thanks everyone for your input! I feel better about tackling these questions now.

We have considered inland, but as others said, it would take much longer. Also, we don't have enough money saved up right now to make it a feasible option. I am a recent university graduate building work experience, and I must be able to work to continue making my car payments and student loans during our application time. I live in New York, about four hours from him, so we still get to see each other regularly enough that our current situation isn't too bad. Hopefully we'll get the application submitted in the next month or shortly after, and then from there it's just crossing our fingers.

I posted this on first page: but then discovered this thread after some searching. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Hi All,

So I am currently in the process of moving to Canada from the US. I am a born Canadian Citizen. My wife is a US citizen, and our daughter was born in the US as well. We are applying to get our daughter Canadian Citizenship, but also currently applying for me to sponsor my wife through an outland family-class application, since I am currently under the gun to move and start working in August.

My question is, for the purpose of the IMM008 and the IMM5481 (and others), do we consider my daughter a Canadian Citizen, assuming she will be approved. Moreover, should we consider our daughter a dependent child of my wives, or exclude her altogether as if she were already a Canadian Citizen? Will we face issues with this driving across the border if the paperwork has already been filed?

Can anyone here steer me in the right direction with this question? Thanks so much in advance.

I'm sure someone will have the answer to another question I've got....While reviewing the checklists, there is this section for the sponsor:

18. Proof of Employment

and/or

Proof of Income, for the self-employed or those receiving interest on income earned.

I have read in many places that proof of employment is not necessary for spouses. My husband is employed for 4-8 months during the year, depending on his co-op term schedule (He is in his third year of University). He is not going to be currently employed when we submit our application in the next month or so, but he doesn't really "earn income" from his savings from those terms either-- In which case, how do we handle this box?

On an unrelated note, I am two years older than my husband. I am turning 24 and he 22. Is this going to cause a red flag? I know it probably wouldn't should our genders be reversed, but I am concerned because even my own father refused to have a relationship with him before we got engaged due to the age difference. We have been together for six years and were only teenagers when we started dating. Would this counterbalance it, do you think?
