BTW I don't think NYC processes PR applications anymore. I was looking at the Visa Office information a couple of weeks ago, and it says it's procesing has changed, and it doesn't seem to talk about processing PR applications.

I think they still process PR applications under family class. Maybe not spousal applications but parents and grandparents etc...

Hey everyone! I need some major questions answered and was hoping someone in this thread could help me
Let me explanation, I was intending on sending my application in next week before my FBI clearance expired which is on the 24th, however I haven't gotten a medical done yet. I was supposed to get it done tomorrow, but someone screwed at the doctor's office and never booked my appointment! I don't know what to do. Could I just send in my application in anyways and then get my medical done in June? I know this will delay my application processing time, but I really just want my application in once and for all. I'm sorry in advance if this was all over the place. Thanks for anyone that can help me.

Some people I believe have done that, just sent the documents later upon request, it does delay things a little but it buys some time if needed. However, in your case I'm worried about the validity of your certificate at this point. I'm not sure when the cutoff is. Whether it's as along is the validity date was the postmark from the post office or if it's valid by the time it hits the VO's desk. You'll have to ask a senior member on that or check CIC's website. Because it takes a while to get there sometimes and a little while for a file to be opened for you. I would double check that so you know what you're up against and should you need it, you'll have it ready when asked so the lag time is less, IMHO. But I'm no expert, this is just my opinion on how I would approach it if it were me.

I sent my application in on January 24th 2014 and did the medical April 1st 2014. Didn't cause any delay they'll just ask you to send it in ASAP when you get your Sponsorship Approval (there will be a note on the bottom). I say send in the application now, and do medicals when you get the chance.

All American applications are sent to Ottawa regardless. They're only forwarded to LA later on if a visa officer has doubts about the relationship or the applicant has criminality problems. Then you'll be asked to do an interview. But sometimes you aren't even notified that your application has been sent to LA, most only find out when they order notes later on in the process.
Most likely if you have a straightforward application it'll continue to be processed in Ottawa.

No problem I suggest sitting back and trying to keep yourself busy for a little while. Order notes in a month or so (they're only 5 bucks, or free if the applicant is in Canada), it keeps me busy at least, waiting for them to arrive and I can see where they're at in the process. But I've been waiting since March 7th when I got my SA without a peep from Ottawa, and it'll probably be another 2 or 3 months before I hear anything. The only change I've seen is last week my medical results were updated in ECAS - we did our medicals after getting sponsorship approval.

only when you order them by mail. when you order them online, it has no affect on the application.

So long as you are IN Canada, then you can access them for free, yes. I have also heard that same rumor and it is not the case. It has no effect on your application process at all, UNLESS you order full notes, not electronics, in which case it might cause a small hiccup because they have to take the physical file to copy it all and such rather than just the electronic notes. All that anyone REALLY needs to check here is the electronic notes. The only time you would order a copy of the originals would be if you had to file for an appeal and needed to see the written annotations and such that the officer put in the file.

It can have useful information in it, such as notes about what the case officer thinks of your relationship, what proof they might request, etc. Mine weren't that helpful, we found out his medicals were accepted and passed, and that they did receive some additional documents we sent Ottawa.

Usually exactly 30 days. Mine were a couple days late so I emailed them and asked about them, and got them a couple hours later.
