Got this email yesterday, the just of it is:In order to continue processing your application, the following is required:

Ø Additional Family Info IMM5406: A separate and newly completed Additional Family Information form (IMM5406) bearing original signatures This must be received at this office by: 05/06/2013

Ø FBI Clearance: If your residence period in the USA has been six months or longer since the age of 18, provide an original FBI clearance certificate Visit: http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/background-checks/submitting-an-identification-record-request-to-the-fbi This must be received at this office by: 05/06/2013

Ø COPY OR SCANNED IMAGE of your passport and passports of your accompanying family members, as noted below.

2 Questions:

Does it do any good to dispute the FBI clearance? I have proof they rec'd it prior to the expiry date. Proof being it was signed for in Ottawa about 10 days before it expired. WHY do we only get 60 days when the FBI states "processing times may take approximately five to six weeks depending on the volume of requests received." Gee, that gives me about the SAME amount of time to get CIC what I did before!

When IMM5406 asks for Changes to your Family Composition:
· Have you married or divorced?
· Have you given birth or adopted a child?
· Do you intend to get married or divorced prior to becoming a permanent resident?
· Do you intend to give birth or adopt a child prior to becoming a permanent resident?
· Has your sponsor withdrawn his or her sponsorship of your application?

If any of these conditions apply, you must inform CPP-O immediately. You will be asked to submit evidence such as a copy of the marriage, divorce, birth or adoption certificate or a letter advising when and where the marriage, divorce, birth or adoption is expected to take place. Any new spouse and/or children must be added to your application and be found admissible to Canada before your case is finalized. Failure to declare additional dependants such as a spouse or children before you become a permanent resident could result in the cancellation of your permanent resident visa.

I didn't let them know we got married, they found out when I sent the marriage certificate, with my application!

So, I have to send the marriage certificate again? AND put my Canadian hubby and step-daughter on IMM5406? They're not "accompanying" , they're Canadian citizens!

I'm so confused. But going to get fingerprinted this morning.
FBI certificates are taking about 5 weeks (or at least that's what it took for ours when we sent firnger prints in January).

Applied as married. I went to the local MP and their office faxed the email and the IMM5406 to their Ottawa office, saying I'd already sent the FBI clearance and passport to them and asking if the only requirement is the IMM5406. I will go back later to see if they get a response. They were so helpful!

But, just got fingerprinted, just in case. Last time, I didn't get my clearance and had to request it again. THIS time, after 5 weeks, I'm going to be on the phone!

UPDATE: The MP's office said the MP's asst from Ottawa thinks I only need to send in the IMM5406. I get a check in my spirit about it. They may be politicians, but they're not immigration specialist. Anyone have advice?

re-re-re-RE reading the email, it lists 3 things they want and there's nothing about "if you've already sent the items, please dis-regard" kind of thing. AND it all has to be mailed together. If the FBI is taking 5 wks to get to the fingerprints, OMG, that 60 days is cutting it close!

On a POSITIVE note: I FINALLY noticed in the email (I've been somewhat traumatized by it LOL) that they expect to FINALIZE (emphasis mine) my application without an interview!

Send it all, but for the FBI thing, explain that you have applied for another one and you will send it when you get it but it will be longer than 60 days.

Can I do that?? The email clearly says to send everything together......I thought I'd wait the 5 weeks then call them to see if they sent it. They lost it last time and I got it to CIC with 6 days before the expiry date.

QUESTION on the IMM5406. I finally found the "guide" to filling it out:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/famcls.asp

And then you have to go to the country to find out what to send with it..... (I can't believe what they want my step-daughter's birth cert & passport?? WHA? Why?? They talk about needing police clearance and medicals done. SERIOUSLY?? It's like applying for PR all over again!)

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E33048.pdf

Additional Family Information (IMM 5406)

Who needs to fill out this application form?

This form must be completed by:

You, as the principal applicant,
Your spouse or common-law partner (whether accompanying you to Canada or not), (??) and
Your dependent children aged 18 or over ??
SECTION A

Write the personal details for:

yourself,
your spouse or common-law partner, (if applicable)
your mother, and
your father.
Note: If you do not have a spouse or a common-law partner, sign the declaration at the end of Section A.
SECTION B

Write the personal details for your children. It is very important that you list all of your children (even if they are already permanent residents or citizens of Canada). This includes:

married children,
adopted children,
children of your spouse(step-children) or common-law partner,
any of your children who have been adopted by others,
any of your children who are in the custody of an ex-spouse, former common-law partner or other guardian.
You must answer all questions. If any sections do not apply to you, answer “N/A”.

Note: if you do not have any children, sign the declaration at the end of Section B

HO-LEE! Does anyone have any experience with this form? Do I put my hubby & step-daughter on it? If I don't, I have to mark the box that "I certify that I do not have a spouse/any children".......I feel like SCREAMING- "THEY ALREADY LIVE HERE BECAUSE THEY'RE CITIZENS!!" and then I want to call them (CIC) a bad name.

Your step daughter does not need to fill out anything. Your sponsor only needs to fill out the items that are listed in the sponsorship guide.

The forms are confusing because they are generic to a large number of situations. You don't have any children immigrating with you, so you don't need to fill anything out on the IMM 008. You list them on the other form (the supplementary information form). THEY don't need to get police certificates or medicals or anything else.

I get what you're saying, and I agree, they are confusing.

But this is the IMM 5406 that was sent to me to complete. And it's eerily like the sponsorship/PR application....so I'm confuse as to if I list them- hubby (sponsor) and his daughter on this new application for Additional Family Information.

Ah yes, that is the supplementary information form. You would complete that, but neither your husband nor step-child would complete it. You would LIST them there, but neither of them would complete any paperwork. You should have submitted one with the original application, so if they are asking you to fill it out again, it's because they weren't happy about something on it.

UGH. They're not asking me to fill it out again, they're asking me to DO IT! I never did it because I mistakenly thought it was ONLY if I had "accompanying" family members. OIY VEY. So, do I really have to put my brother on it??? LOL
Well, no harm no foul, they requested other stuff too.

My partner had to mention his four step-brothers and step-sisters. He never lived with them and met them just a few times in his life, and he's 60! He didn't even know where some of them lived, but we drew the line at hiring a detective to find out! ;D
