Need some urgent help here:
My parents landed in Canada on 7th September 2020 on a visitor visa. They were supposed to return in early March but we applied for extension in January 2021.
Until yesterday (3rd August 2021) the application was still under process and few weeks back, I booked their return tickets for the 18th of August. Today we got an email from the CIC that the extension application has been refused for not providing passport copy along with the application, which is ridiculous as I had shared the passport copy for both my parents respectively.
Now after reading on the website, I came to no that their visa status will now changed to visa expired.
I am not able to understand if I need to apply for restoration of status or do I have an option to skip that as they are returning back on the 18th.
What are the cons of not applying for restoration?
They are charging 200$ for each application ($400 in total) which I feel is not right as I had already shared my parents passport and visa copies along with the application.
But at the same time I am concerned if they will be allowed entry in the future or not? If I apply for restoration now, there is no guarantee that cic will respond in 2 weeks time.
Appreciate you help and thanks in advance!
