deepahuja26, what was the process of getting the PCC from India?

Did your dad use some kind of police influence or is there a normal way of getting it? Please tell us.

@ yahoo7

Well my dad is a Bank Manager and he knows a lot of local police so he got mine done as soon as he could. I just have one more question for the seniors... Does a PCC supposed to have a picture on it? Just curious.

Not really. But just make sure it is issued by the Authorised Authority to issue PCC (acceptable by CIC).

@ andy

Oh yea ofcourse its issued from SSP's office so its definitely legit and issued by Authorised Authority.

Hello Everyone,

I am little confused about PCC as I was told by someone that because I am living in Canada from the past 3 years, I am supposed to get the PCC from the local Canadian Police and not from India or Indian Consulate in Canada.

Please advice!!

You got the wrong info. PCC issued by the Consulate General of India is very much valid.
PCC from Canada is not required. If required, CIC will ask for the same at a later stage of processing.

What I know is you can apply for a PCC at a Passport Service Kendra in India.

You need to be physically present in India to get a PCC (from India). If you are residing in Canada and applying for PCC in India, they will direct you to CGI.

I do not want to comment about other routes.

Deep..
I had a word with CIC last week on PCC as i was planning on getting mine from India directly. But the agent said the rules have become stricter and they will not accept PCC directly from India. You would need to go to CGI only and get your PCC from here since you are in Canada. When i asked why dont they accept the certificate from India, the agent gave me an unclear answer about fraud and ease of obtaining fake documents from India. So she said CEC applications need to have PCC issued through CGI only.
Hope this help.
Try giving them a call if you can, cos most of the times we get 2 different answers from 2 different CIC agents.

Cheers and Good Luck

I know it usually takes 4-6 weeks to get it done from CGI here but my dad got mine done from India in 3 days and its already on its way here. So as long at it doesn't matter where I got it from I should be fine. Thanks for your help guys, really appreciate it. I will have more questions coming your way in next couple of weeks

Cheers

Hi.. for me the Police certificate and Birth certificate got from the CGI via the Montreal VFS office in two weeks..

Are you yet to Apply for the CEC or Applied already, do you know is there anywhere we can check whether the Application quota is reached already.. I am also planning to Apply under CEC.. I was waiting for the Confirmation from the Employer to getting a letter which shows that after the PR they can move me to outside of Quebec.. So now I am confused whether the Application quota is reached already or not!!

Thanks & Regards

The fastest way to get a PCC is to apply for both PCC & DOB @ CGI which you will receive in 2 weeks instead of just applying for PCC @ VFS and wait for 2 months. I believe the cost is almost the same in both the cases.

just an FYI, it also depends upon your local Police department. If you think your local police department is in good condition, they will verify and send their report fast, or they can delay. I did mine one before coming here in 2 days (knew people personally) and one from here took 3 weeks. Cheers!
