I was just in the midst of reviewing this.

Yes, the information seems really insufficient.

If this letter was approved by your consultant i would also suggest to change your consultant and apply through a lawyer this time

If the letterhead is the key point i missed, how come the consultant didnt notice it when he was preparing my application? I asked him before about the letterhead, he said its ok if the employer's company doesnt have it.

I just really don't know whose fault it is, i thought hiring a consultant would be better than apply by myself, i have friends who applied themselves and they KNEW to make up a letterhead then get the employer to look it and sign it,i feel like my consultant is not very professional and my fee is nonrefundable no matter what

On another hand, maybe my case officer is too picky on me, but im still mad of they put their own opinion over the reality, they should investigate more on my case, like make a call to one of us: my employer, myself, or my consultant.or send a fairness letter to notice me resubmit a reference letter before the rejection

To whom it may concern,

RE:David

This letter is to confirm that David has been employed with our company since June 13, 2011. His job title is Food Store Supervisor and he has been full time since he started with us. He works 40 hours a week, his job duties include supervising the staff by providing direction and training as well as ordering, maintaining records, sanitation and organization of the stock. He is a key holder and he also assists with balancing the money. He is paid hourly and his annual salary was about $29000. The annual salary will remain similar this year, the only change will be the amount of overtime worked.

Our company name is 1234567 Alberta LTD operating as XXXX (a famous fast food restaurant). If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at any time.

XXXX(employer's Name)

XXXX(company address)
xxxxxx(phone number)
My thoughts here are your duties are too brief, and also unprofessionally written. The unprofessional component would not necessarily be a basis for rejection, but the duties being brief does seem like the ultimate reason you were rejected based on the CIC officer's use of the word "adequate" in the rejection letter.

To be honest, your consultant should have advised you of this from the start. Having seen many letters posted here, the version you received from your employer is much shorter than average. Your duties were written in 2 short sentences, making it difficult for the officer to assess.

My advice would be to work with your employer in getting a more professionally prepared letter (consider preparing a draft for them), with a detailed description of your duties - the duties should make up the bulk of the letter.

Hi, I am sorry about this.
I used to be like you, used to trust these consultants blindly and always thought that they were better than me, it turns out "NOT", they just want to mint money, it does not matter to them what the outcome for you is, as long as they get their money.
I am surprised that, even if your consultant was taking care of business, you did not do a little bit of homework yourself. Anyway, what is done is done, this message is not intended to make you feel worse than what you are feeling right now.
You can clearly see that the information provided on the supposed letter was never sufficient, plus it lost its credibility when there was no letter head and no business card.
Re-apply and this time do it yourself and i am sure it is all going to be fine.

Well said Cruiser, All these consultants are just thinking about themselves and most of the times are not so professional or knowledgeable. Trust your self.

ditto vijayarr. I really think this had to do with the credibility of the letter. If it wasnt on letterhead and no business card is attached, it raises eyebrows. The burden of proof is always on the applicant, as such, it is best to provide information as stipulated on the checklist, as clearly and as professionally as possible. Unfortunately some of it has to do with the VO examining it (i.e. their willingness to "investigate further", but poor presentation could lead them to reject outright, and they do have a right to do that based on the information in front of them). Take it in stride, learn from your (costly) mistake and reapply with a clearer reference letter that has all details as outlined in the checklist. Wishing you all the best.

I strongly believe that it has to do with the credibility of the employer. The VO wasn't convinced about this. There is no letter head nor a business card or anything .. How is the VO supposed to believe that you were employed under this company performing skilled work? The VO points out the checklist and says you haven't provided a letter as mentione in the checklist. There are multiple things that went wrong here as far as the reference letter goes

Hi AngryBunny,

I totally feel what you are going through. The waste of time is the single most thing that boils my blood. I wish CIC had a way to avoid this huge waste of someone's valuable time.

However, at this moment, like Seton advised, the best thing you can do is re-gain your focus. Without wasting further time, re-apply under the new CEC 2013 rules. This time, pls dont spend a penny with any lawyer. We have so many experts here, Jes, Seton, PMM and well...even Cruiser is an expert now! :) We can all help you, its collective and interactive knowledge over here and absolutely free. Just focus on preparing your documents again and re-apply.

Once you are done applying, then contact your consultant. I believe it was his/her responsibility to help you in drafting your company reference letter and to advise you to get it on company letter head. Since they failed in that, they should return your money. But that's a fight you can have later, right now, you need to re-focus and apply asap so that you dont waste any more time. And by the trends im seeing on this forum, the 2013 applications are moving at a better pace then our 2012 speed.

All the best.

Hi angrybunny,
Keeping the duties part aside, your letter (dated May 11, 2012) states that you have been working with that employer from June 13, 2011. Meaning the experience you have with that employer is 11 months only. Do you have other canadian experience with other employers and have you enclosed those letters too ?

Cruiser is absolutely right

LAWYERS ARE LIARS AND CONSULTANTS ARE IMPOTENT ..
all they want is money .. and then they wash their hands off the case.
Don't even get me started on where the lawyer/consultant is from...
cos I have seen to many people getting ripped of thousands of $$$$ which they worked hard for .. from lawyers/consultants of my country (who operate in Canada)

Your lawyer/representative failed to follow the instructions on the checklist with regards to reference letter. Ask for a refund at the very least.
