I am in a big delima. I had applied for Canada Immigration 5 years ogo, in the meanwhile I come to UK on HSMP, now I have been successful in getting my extension in the UK and I will have no problem in getting the PR here in about 3 years. My Canada immigration has also come through and now I am really thinking.
I have a ok job in the UK, not something I would be too worried to leave if I decide to go to Canada. I am in a delima as to what I should do, go to Canada or stay here in the UK.

UK is still in recession and everything is so expensive here. On the other had I have to start all over again in Canada and Indian education is not especially valued there.

I am 30 years old but still single so I can still take some risks before I get married and settle down. Need some advice on what is the best thing to do or what would anyone of you would do if you were in my shoes.
Thank you so much for your reply.

People who have been in the UK and/or in Canada would be better to answer my question. I am however interested to know what the general point of view of the group is.

I stayed in UK and now in Canada to study, I will always prefer UK to reside. The recession problem is in Canada as well + plus there is huge dilemma between Canadian employers about Canadian qualification or Canadian experience. In this expect UK has more diversity. About the living standards in UK your earnings are in GBP and in Canada in CAD, according to IMF, world bank and McDonald living index they both fall at same level some things are expensive in UK and some in Canada, but when you consider purchasing power in term of earning money then both countries are on same level. If you are still confuse search for job market for your profession which can be found easily on internet for both countries, future trends, growth etc, but it's not much easier to differentiate. They only preference for UK is much more diversity in educational acceptance, no need to go for foreign credential evaluation.

Hi Zulkfal,

Whereever we immigrate, it is obvious to face problems at the beginning.
It's not only happending in Canada with professionals to get Canadian qualification in order to get a job in their field. If you go to US, UK you need to study that country's qualification in order to get a suitable job in your field. The rest is all depend on your luck!

COCO- You need to look at your long term goals to make the decision.... You can keep all options open.

UK and Canada are basically the same except for the weather which they vary very differently. If you are settled in UK i would suggest to stay there, standard of living is almost the same. you will earn more though in canada than in the UK even with the disparity of the "purchasing power" of the currency considering UK has a higher cost of living. Generally most of canadians are friendly but racism is also evident in some places. The only better thing canada has is they live simple lives and they thrive with simple things in life, laid back so to say.

In the US, you only really need a local registration for some jobs like doctor, etc. i know lots of foreigners in engineering and business who don't have local qualifications. I have heard its worse in Canada for even like engineering and business jobs.

I'm in the same boat as COCO,

I have applied for the Canadin PR when I was studying in the UK 4 years ago. While I was waiting for Canadian PR I have completed 10 years in the UK through student visa and the HSMP now I got the PR in the UK and I got the Canadian PR visa stamped as well (but not landed yet in Canada). And also I have a decent job in the UK.

One thing - I dont know how long do I have to wait in the Canada to get the paper works done after the Landing and also I do not want to waste the Canadian PR visa by not going to Canada.

If I stay more than one month in the Canada for papers I may lose the job here in the UK.

Advise please.........confused.com

Thanks

Cocosting and Rizcom.

Will you guys get the Citizenship of UK or just the PR. If its just the PR than if I were in your position I would have selected Canada.

My suggestion is dont waste your canadian visa and do the landing process. You can land and leave canada next day. Give address of your friend for PR card and he can mail you later.

you can stay outside of Canada for three years in any given 5 years. That will be enough time for you to make your mind going forward.

Hi,

Sorry, I just diverted from the topic for a while!.

May be the winter will have drastic changes due to 'global warming'. Summer also may be more horrible and worst as the ice burgs started melting faster in the arctic region than ever before. However, we should face the situation.
