Hi... I used this forum extensively while applying for our TRVs to Canada. We all applied at different times as we had no plans of travelling together so here it goes:

Sep, 2013: Me and my wife ( She is a US Citizen) wanted to Visit Victoria. I needed a visa at that time (Although i was in Washington but I had not received my green card at that time). So I applied online and got Passport Request the same evening. I sent my passport along with a return Envelope from USPS and exactly the 10th day I had my stamped passport with a 8 year Multiple TRV in hand. I got it stamped from LA Consulate although my sticker says "Issued at: New Delhi"

December, 2013: My mother and younger brother were in US because we were expecting our first child. Applied for them online, Got passport request within 3 hours (UNBELIEVABLE but true) and sent the passports to LA the same evening. Received them Back on exactly the 12th day. Both Stamped till 1 week before passport expiry.

June, 2014: Applied for my DAD Online in India. Got passport request the next morning ( within 11-12 Hours max). Submitted Passport at VFS Chandigarh (UT/Punjab, India) and received the Stamped passport within 5 working days.

Our Background:
I'm a doctor. My passport's almost full with US, UK, European and SE Asian Visas and Stamps.

My parents are both Professors in Govt. Colleges.

My Brother is a student.

All of us had good travel history incl. 10 Y Multiple Visas and travel to USA.

Thanks.

PS: Kindly don't get discouraged with posts telling that it took 2 months to get a visa. If you have a good profile, yur visa should not take more than 10 days. Also now the canadian Embassy only issues Multiple visas and fee is fixed at CAD 100.

The timing is about luck and not about having a "good profile".

Single people one application, good jobs on work permit, posgrad degrees, can take 9 weeks.
Married people several applications, low end jobs, no secondary education, can take 2 weeks.

I have seen it all.

Well I just wanted to share my experience. A lot of people who get visas dont come back to post. When I had to apply I had read so many stories online.

What I feel is we should do our due diligence by making a strong application with adequate supporting documents. Rest is upto the embassy. And our visas were stamped at three different times so It basically gives an insight that its not as bad as people say.

Life is pure luck. I totally agree.

How long it took you to get 1 st visa stamp on your pp. must be more then quoted above by you.
Please also stop copy pasting above quote on every blog.

Hello,
You mentioned you applied for your father's visa online.
I want to apply online for my parents who are outside Canada. I live in Canada and want to apply for TRV for them.
The only VAC center is far away from where they live and it seems to be less time consuming and less expensive if I do it from my end online. Did you have to create your own MyCIC and applied on your father's behalf? Or created MyCIC for your dad, and he had to sign the representative forms?
As for signature, is there an option to sign electronically?
Many thanks!!!
