Hello. I am a Canadian travelling back home to Canada. I have a gift for my dad that is a watch but includes a Swiss Army knife. Does anyone know if that is something that needs to be declared. I am planning to pack that in my checked in luggage. I have never travelled with anything like that so wondering if that is prohibited or do I even have to mention it? It's packaged in a nice branded box and everything. Any ideas or tips?

No, it is quite fine to bring it (only if the value of the gift exceeds the amount allowable then you will have to declare it.)

I have travelled with kitchen knives back and forth from Mexico.... like here in Canada they are cheaper :)

If you want to double check keep the receipt with you.
