Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this or could point me in the right direction.

My common law partner is Mexican and requires a visitors visa to travel to many places. I'm wondering when he becomes a permanent resident of Canada will he be able to travel to the countries that Canadians are allowed to without any additional visitors visa just by showing his PR card?

No, not as a permanent resident.

I once researched this question and was able to find only a handful of countries that exempt permanent residents of Canada from obtaining visitor visas regardless of citizenship.

Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, I think Cuba (not sure), I don't remember the full list now. Switzerland used to allow Canadian PRs visitor visa-free but not doing it anymore.

All other countries don't exempt Canadian PRs from visitor visas. Canadian PR status only helps in the way of greatly increasing your chances to get visas to the developed countries with uptight visa policies.
