Travel while waiting for OWP & PR

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone would provide me with information on travelling while waiting for the OWP & PR. My Fiance's current work permit will be completed July 2017 but we are looking to travel back to his country in May while we are waiting on the OWP to be approved.
I noticed on CIC the question "Can I leave Canada while IRCC processes my application for PR" has been recently updated and wondering if it would be safe to travel because he has a valid passport, can get the eTA and will have the work permit but only for a few more months.

Thanks in advanced :D

A requirement of INLAND PR/OWP app is that sponsor and applicant live together in Canada while the app is processing. So if either sponsor or applicant leaves Canada there are 2 risks:
1. If IRCC sees either applicant or sponsor are outside Canada long enough to suspect you are no longer residing in Canada, the PR app can be cancelled
2. If applicant is denied entry back into Canada by CBSA for any reason, the PR app is cancelled

Sorry for lack of details

We did apply inland. I am the sponsor and I am a Canadian citizen and I will be travelling with him for 1 week in May. We also plan on travelling in November for 2 weeks together for a Wedding we have to go to.

short trips as the ones suggested shouldn't be an issue as it won't look like you are living elsewhere. As Rob mentioned, the risk is related to the applicant coming back to canada. if they are denied entry for any reason, the inland application will be deemed abandoned. If the applicant has a valid visa/permit to enter canada, then there is usually no issue leaving for short trips. Unfortunately, no one can really guarantee anything as the entry is at the discretion of the CBSA agent you encounter at point of entry.

Thanks for your input! It is just as vague as I thought, but didn't want to take any chances in case there was more information I missed.

Hi,

Did you find any information? Similar situation, my spouses PR and OWP is under process and she is currently in Canada under a visitor visa (multiple entry, landed on Jan 2017, with no duration mentioned at stamping, hence valid for 6 months at a go). Planning for a short trip to US (4 days) in April.

Thanks
