From what I understand, usually they only request RCMP fingerprint if your name is matched with someone who has criminal records in Canada. If your name is unique and the RCMP screening returns with no name match then you're off the hook. You always have to provide Police Clearance for all other countries you've lived more than 6 mths.

Truongan: Thanks for your comments, I did not know about the name matching. I knew about the police certificates from the other countries but was not sure about Canada.

Did you get request to submit your RCMP Police clearance certificate?

Thanks,

Hi Kamya,

I did not get request for RCMP, looking everyone getting mail asking for RCMP so,

@ TRUONGAN - Thanks for your post, so everyone is not required RCMP criminal record..

All the Best

Thanks

I would also add, if your full name is entered in the Giiven Name and Surname (which is the last name) is blank :). This is the usual case with Indian passports.

Hi mcsvizag,

Well, I'm not certain if everyone is getting the RCMP Criminal Check request... But there is no harm in applying for it (it costs a bit though). The local RCMP at my place did not have the electronic fingerprinting and had to take the paper one... now I realize its been a waste of time and money cos the electronic fingerprinting gets the results faster (only if there werent any criminal charges). I would suggest you check online for the RCMP accredited fingerprinting agencies in your area and call them to check if they directly send the electronic fingerprints to RCMP Ottawa, if they do.. then that is the quickest way to get the RCMP Criminal Check certificate...

All the best!

Hey guys,

Look what I found :(

Hopefully this is not true :(

Hi Kamya,

Yes, I submitted all the PCCs from the countries I lived in beyond 6 months along with the application. It was mentioned that Canadian PCC (RCMP Criminal Check) is not required. But now it seems like everyone needs to provide (buying time may be.. :D )...

Thanks Sandyboy!
