My days before getting PR which is one year + an extra year

Your final product the actual citizenship will be the very same like those before you and those after the new rules comes in.
The passport will be exactly the same.

I would be eligible to apply under the new rules in August this year, and I am pretty sure that if I am in a hurry I will get my Canadian citizenship much faster than those who have applied under the old rules in the last 10 weeks.

So it depends.

For me the new rules are 100% beneficial.

Actually all of you guys will benefit from the increased staff of agents exactly due to the New Law.

If all the process was still the same as the old rules ( Before August last year) the processing time for all of us would have been a total disaster.

So you se that the new rules already gives benefits ;)

My application was recieved too at 10 am. Phew. The 1700 estimated arrival was a scare. Now waiting for the AOR. ;D

Im now accepting of the new rules, I understand it is to weed out those who wanna use the Canadian passport for other benefits than intending to actually reside. Although I will say it is a pain in the butt, Ive been here since 2006 as a student and thinking I need to wait another 1.5 years to apply then 2 years processing..13 years to finally become canadian. But fine. I get the reasoning. Im just dont feel the best about the Second class tier thing. Im not gonna commit crimes but it just doesnt sit right.

hi everyone. my application was finally received this morning (talk about cutting it close, lol) my question is, does cic acknowledge receipt through email or regular mail? and what kind of timeline is expected?

Don't worry you'll be fine.

Hi everyone,

I am one of the lucky ones whose application was received on June 9th.

A few questions:

I realized that I left some sections empty in the application form rather than putting N/A. Are they too much picky on this? Those sections were mostly the very obvious ones (e.g. the section where it asks you to fill out the mail address "if" it is different than home address -it wasn't different in my case and I simply left it blank). I hope they won't send the application back for issues like this. (On that note, back in 2011 they sent my PR application back just because a stupid number was missing).

What happens next exactly and what is the time frame? I am out of country for four months but if they happen to process the application faster than excepted I am planning to come back and do whatever is required. Is there any chance that I might be physically required in Canada before four months? (note: I have continuing work ties in Canada, this is a temporary position).

Thanks and good luck to everyone,

I sent my application from Vancouver by Purolator on noon of June 8. Purolator guaranteed that my application will delivered at Sydney CIC before 5pm on June 10. But I track online and see my application still at Moncton NB on 15:16 local time June 10 to transit to Sydney CIC. I contact Purolator and spoke to the manager, he said that unfortunately their plane having mechanical delay at Vancouver airport on June 8 19:28 local time. He said my application will definately delivered to Sydney CIC on June 11 morning. Is it purolator always provide this kind of poor services and just apologies about the delay and doing nothing?

If you mean the date printed by the studio staying when the photo was taken, you could have problems.

If you applied ALONE then you will be fine. Let see how things play out in the coming weeks.

According to the updated online calculator I ended up being eligible to apply under the new rules way before I thought.
It showed that I am eligible at the end of this month ;)

With the old rules I was always few weeks short.
Now is much better because I can calculate my days from the last 6 years 8)
