Tips for a successful BOWP application

Hello Forum members,
I am a Sept CEC applicant. My current Work Permit expires in 24Th Jan 2015. I haven't recieved my AOR yet, but i am expecting anytime next week. I have applied for BOWP paper application without AOR (explaining in cover letter). My question is, if I receive my AOR next week, can I submit another BOWP application online. If so, what will happen to my paper application which i submitted earlier.

Hi,
if one application is processed the other one will be cancelled. I am not sure about the money (if you can ask for a refund of the cancelled application or not).

I suggest renew your passport asap and then apply for bowp by march.. if u get 8-10 months bowp n then need extension its just a waste of another $155.. so i suggest might as well get the passport renewed first..

for second question.. i didn't inform CIC about passport renewal for my CEC application.. i guess it wont be a bad idea to update them.. seniors any suggestions on this?

Thats really informative, thanks my passport is expiring too in Jan 2016. And I will apply for BOWP in march so what should I do ? (Your Suggestion Please).

Should I renew my passport first then apply for BOWP (Because then I will got for only 9 or 10 Months). ?

And another question I think when we got new passport so we have to let CIC know as well new information about passport is it right ???

Can I apply for BOWP ?
if not what if I will leave my current job ?

Hi All,

My current WP is bound to a Employer. My wife however came with me as a dependent and so has an Open WP.Bother WP's expire in June 2015.
We both are currently employed.
I have applied for PR under CEC and have received AOR in DEC 2014.
I can apply for a Bridging Open WP (BOWP) after Feb 2015 (4 months before current WP expiries).
However from the CIC website and this forum i read that my spouse cannot apply for BOWP but has to apply for a normal Open Work Permit.

My question is:
1) Does the online BOWP application have provision to apply for my spouse's Open WP?
2) Looking at the BOWP application form (IMM5710E) i don't see any provision to mention details for my Spouse so that her WP also gets extended.
3) For BOWP do I need to submit Open Work Permit application for me along with IMM5710E form?

Hi Guys I hope Im not intruding. I would just like to ask a couple of questions.

- When I will be receiving my AOR? Do you know the processing time for this?

My work permit will expire on September 2015 and I am planning to extend it. I know that I can do both (Closed and BOWP). However, just to be sure that I can work here in Canada I will apply for Closed permit while waiting for AOR (which is needed for BOWP).
-I want to know if this process is alright
---> Apply Closed work permit February 2015 in case the LMIA is negative then I will apply on May 2015 for BOWP (I hope I could get positive result in my AOR)

*The reason why I want to apply for both because I have heard that my employer is planning to close the company. They are not sure when but it looks like it will be soon.

You are not eligible to apply for BOWP as u have more than 4 months left on your existing work permit..

if u leave your current job the work permit will still stay valid BUT you cannot apply BOWP until there are less than 4 months left on your current wp

It is the same form just that write a letter mentioning you are applying for BOWP.. and yes u can apply for SOWP along with your BOWP .. just also write a letter along with SOWP application that you already have applied for your BOWP.. i know people on this forum who hv successfully done that

yes ur wife cannot apply for BOWP as she is on a dependent wp which is linked with yours.. thus she can only apply for SOWP which is an open work permit.. so u can apply for her SOWP online yes as i am also doing same for my spouse even tho she is not even in Canada..

I suggest just apply for BOWP in may 2015.. as long as u hv valid wp and AOR you will be issued BOWP so there is minimal risk involved.. current processing times for AOR are super slow and many people have gotten AOR in 4 months so max by April 2015 u can expect to get AOR if not even earlier...

It is the same form for both.. its just one application which is for open work permit but the category for that wp is bridging.. IMM5710E

I was wondering when to apply for Visa (as even the multientry visa is expiring). Can i enclose the visa application too with the BOWP and SOWP application?

I suggest apply for TRV after the BOWP is issued.. cause TRV application doesnt take much time and BOWP takes longer.. so they will process TRV first and issue it till the validity of current BOWP.. so i suggest wait till BOWP is approved.

Once we get BOWP, what is the BOWP start date. Is it valid right from the day it is approved or they align the start date with the end date of the previous work permit?
