If the actual backlog was ~50K persons at the end of 2015 and CIC keeps on accepting ~20K PGP applicants (persons) and processes ~20K persons each year; how come they will ever eliminate backlogs? Mathematically, the number will stay around 50,000 PGP persons all the time. ???

Yes all it means that wait time will be 2.5 years (50K backlog divided by 20K per year processing)....

I will update you with my search query soon too...

What was your search query on open.canada.ca

1. For PGP inventory as of Oct 5, 2015, look at Sheet 'All Destinations - Persons' Cell 'AS6'
http://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/b6f7c54e-ef4b-4ec1-8dde-7315e97d18eb

2. For approximate number of persons entered under PGP in Q4 2015, look for cell 'J7'...hopefully this number was on lower end than actually admitted (otherwise total entered in 2015 under PGP were ~15K people)
http://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/6a26595e-3b66-4591-b795-87702ed5d58e

Difference of '1' and '2' should be effective backlog as of January 01, 2016. Comes to be approximately 50K people.

Hope it helps.

I cannot believe it. CC got charged for application #2 (MIL). Purolator. Jan 5th 8:52 batch. I will not ask Purolator to return my money even though they offered a full refund because they missed delivery on Jan 4th due to issues in AB. Just waiting now for CC charge on application #1 (Mom + Dad), although I may not be able to confirm it until few days later, as CC used on that one doesn't seem to post charges or update credit as fast as others.

:oFinally the CC is charged today ;D. Thanks to everyone for your valuable comments to this forum. Although i joined this forum after i submitted my application using Purolator who screwed up by delaying application by a day and delivered on Jan 5th at 8:52 AM. Thanks to the Liberals govt. and their decision to implement their promises right away. :o
Wish to everyone who get suffered like me from Alberta and Manitoba by Purolator.

Difference come to as below...

1. 28348 (AS6)
2. 4711 (J7)

1-2 = 28348-4711 = 23637 = Is this 23K number of appls or person? if apps then yes... ~46K people

Hence 20K of this year would be tentative...2018/2019...as others mentioned...

The excel sheet says "Cases", so I think 28,348 is a number of pending cases (backlogs). And 4,711 is a number of persons (as the total number of yearly processed matches with what CIC says on its website, roughly ~18K).

If all these are correct, I don't know what to say. 50K backlog will remain as long as this Govt. stays/ keeps taking 10K apps (18K persons) each year/ sticks to <20K yearly processing. If the this tri-factor doesn't change, the backlog doesn't change either...

Yes, the backlog would likely not change much

if backlog stays around 50K, then applications would have ~2.5 years wait time...i.e. application at the end of the backlog today (~50,000th 'person') will become first person in backlog in 2.5 years...makes sense?

why dont we ask the CIC about the current waiting time for 2016 intake?

There is something I don't understand. In the past, as far as I remember, PGP applications had two processing phases:

1) The central processing time which the estimation was the same for all applications
2) An office processing time which varied significantly depending on the office.

Are our estimation is for #1 or both #1 and #2?

Also when I check http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/, it says "Working on applications received on or before November 4, 2011" and doesn't make it clear.

The minister spoke in the house yesterday, did you guys see this?
Budget increase.

Mr. Speaker, it is true that over the last 10 years, these Conservatives
starved my department of money and diverted resources from families, to the
point where it takes an unacceptable two years for a husband and wife to be
reunited.

We are putting more money in. We are learning from the Syrian experience to
do things faster. And first and foremost, my objective is to clean up this
big fat Conservative mess.

Hi Guys how long it takes to have the ECAS activated after CC get charged?
My CC got changed on Merch 16. Thanks
