Don't agree with you fully brother.

Like I said earlier, it not totally waste.. if I come on PR, I will do the same struggle that time. So, its better I did now and saved time actually... Yes, there may be little more interview chances, but as I said... I lack some skills here, which are in demand. That I plan to complete in India, take certifications (they are internationally accepted). Mind you, I am talking about Professional Certifications, not BSc, MCA college degrees. Atleast, in my field no one cares what you studied back in India. No one asked me - "give me Canadian equivalent of your degree".

Depends on how you see it - if you have extra cash, no harm in checking out. Rather than bringing all family and struggling, I came alone and found out where I stand. Now, I will come well prepared... and now I have the courage to bring family also next time.

I think u are from bangalore......

Thanks for your information i really do not know which certification u r talking about...
I am lay man and done mcse, mcsa, pmp, itil, vcp, ccnp,a+,clp, ccna (voice)

do you think these certification are help for me.to get job or need to do more "INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE"

daily i got 2-3 calls for jobs in Calgary but If i have a permission to work in any other province then i defiantly got the job or more one major problem is we are on OWP..
When employer ask " what is u r status in canada.." They never call back coz v r on OWP..no company wants to take risk to hire OWP person..
Calgary, Toronto are the hub of IT companies....

Hope u are enjoying Canada......

One more thing, I would like to add - this is for ppl in IT software field. Getting jobs are easy for IT, but more easy for development ppl than Testing ppl. The reason being - Testing jobs are mostly off-shored to Indian companies like TCS, WIPRO, Infy, whereas dev jobs they try to keep it in Canada. So, if you are a developer, its more easy to get job (unfortunately, I am not a developer, I am into Testing).

Another important point -

TORONTO - Finance/Banking/Insurance jobs
OTTAWA - Technology jobs

If your domain is not Banking/Finance, then don't come to Toronto.

Hi Punjabi - I don't think you are in Finance. You seem to be in Telecom, which is where even I am. With certifications like CCNA, CCNP, you can get jobs in OTTAWA.

In my next trip, I may even think of going to Ottawa, instead of Toronto.

All in all - guys, its not that difficult to get job here. Matter of having right tools in hand and to be in right place. People Networking helps a lot here. Atleast, they can get you to interview level (atleast).

MS SharePoint is also in lots of demand here in Toronto. See, if you can do sharepoint certification.

Hey Vineet,

I'm from Java development background but now working as Project manager, do u see PM jobs in Toronto or would some technical certifications help me better? I do have 2 years experience working in Toronto (between 2008-09), do they consider Canadian experience or not? It was like 5 years ago, thus this question :). If I have to do some more technical certifications, what could they be, any pointers would help. Thanks a ton for ur previous post, extremely helpful :)
