Hi All,

I got this update on strike below and this does not seem to be going our way. These people are jeopardizing our present and future along with them!!!

Foreign service strike could continue into fall: Union rep
By Michelle Zilio | Jul 11, 2013 5:43 pm | | 3Comments It is increasingly likely that Canadian foreign service officers will continue to strike into the fall session, unless the government comes back to the negotiating table, according to the union.

In a picket outside of Citizenship and Immigration Canada headquarters in Ottawa Thursday, Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) President Tim Edwards said the union is prepared to continue striking into the fall sitting of Parliament if they have to.

“There are no signals that the government has taken the decision to come back to the table for a meaningful discussion,” said Edwards. “We are prepared to take this as long as it takes. Whether its just to the end of the summer, whether it’s into the fall.”

Hundreds of PAFSO members marched outside CIC headquarters

Lets plz pray to god for this strike to end 2day or 2morrow

This strike should certainly end soon.

Going by the news articles the government should be really worried about the impact on the economy (Tourism, Airlines, Education etc) this has caused.

I don't think they will prolong this matter more.

It would be in the best interest of everybody to rectify this problem soon.

Forget about sending repeated emails to these guys. They never reply.

I have tried doing it but it doesn't help. Plus there might be issue as well if you send so many emails.

It will come when it has to come.

One of My Friend has the situation His Spouse Passport only Appears "Given Name" and Surname is blank Will he affected with this all. and He filled NONE in surname Coulom for Visa Application.and one more thing p. applicant's passport's Pincode is different from spouse's passport's pincode, will this affect or not.....

Please Reply
Pincode issue may not pose any problem.
If your friend's spouse does not have a surname than it should not have any problem.
When the surname is blank in the passport it implies that the applicant does not have a surname.
But if the applicant has a surname but has been wrongly filled in the given names column than correction should be made as it will affect all documentation.
Since in the west all data is recorded by the surname it may create unnecessary hassale and explanation each time. That is why VO ask for endoresement.

Dear,

I filled the Correct surname in the surname coulom. I don't know what can be done Now.

If you filled in surname of your spouse in the surname column of the application form and the passport shows her surname column as blank..... you will in all probability have to get it sorted.

The application form specificallly says that the name should be as it apppears in the passport.

Well you can be proactive and get it corrected endrosed from the passport office. The will just put a stamp in the passport that this passport holder's name should be read as Given name...XXXXX Surname..YYYYY, and entry number, date, stamp and signature of the passport official.
At times the Passort official may say give affidavit for name change. Do not do it, argue as you are not changing a name only a correctionOr alternatively wait for the VO to send you the letter to do the correction.

Hi.....

I have one confusion.

I have a Ph.D offer from Alberta University. But I have been nominated by the Manitoba Province Nominee Programme and waiting for Visa.My wife is a principal Applicant.

My Question is: May I do Ph.D in Alberta University with this VISA?? or Must i have to live/study/work in Manitoba Province only???

Thanking you,

You can continue ph.D on Immigrant status. Immigrant Status means you are a permanent Resident All over the Canada As well as You are not Principal Applicant. I hope it helps

Cheers

@SP88,

Thanks for your Valuable Replies But I have talked to my Representative he said Don't worry All will be fixed up by VO. and this mistake can be considered.

Cheers
