hi tabs, i am using a PROF driving license. Do I still need a Certification? hindi ba simple lang na ipakita ang laminated card and paper when we arrive in Winnipeg and immediately , pwede na akong mag drive? regards ;)

You can drive up to 90days using your PH license. After that you need to get a CDN DL.

Yung certification naman is a driving record/abstract - a history of since you had been given a license. Patunay lang na me good driving record ka. It is not a requirement to get a CDN DL, pero it is useful in some cases to lower driver's insurance premiums or in some provinces, presentation of such allows you to skip levels in graduated DL programs.

Guys, by the way, before I forgot, someone asked me about the vaccinations of measles for adults.

He said that he was given instructions at St. Luke's to get one before leaving for Canada. He didn't have any instructions regarding upon receiving his visa, but he told me about it. I asked him when he had his medicals and it was January 2014.

I had mine in December 17 last year and I was not given any instructions. Should I get that vaccination before going? Or only he should? or even he doesn't have to?

There is no single contact person for the CIO - NS. The mailing instructions are listed here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EP7TOC.asp#ep76

Paki-check if the mailing address you are using is the PO Box address - change it to the one used for courier deliveries:
Or by courier:
Citizenship & Immigration Canada
Provincial Nominee Program
Centralized Intake Office
49 Dorchester Street
Sydney, NS
B1P 5Z2
Canada

See the mailing instructions in the guide for the differences between the mailing and courier address. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EP7TOC.asp#ep76

Hi kelotz!

oh! ganun ba?

Salamat din sa reply mo!

It also helped to know your case.

See you someday! ;)

Hi isaiahchase, I'm obviously from Cebu also though I'm assigned here only for a year. Yong DHL near victoria hotel ba yan (street at the back of robinsons Fuente) accepted my document without a contact person. Try it there. Kung ayaw, there's another mail and more store in Fuente circle that has fedex, wala din at ang required contact person. God bless sa application!

Thanks ragluf. Will just hope and pray for the best :)

Hi unmerited favor, I checked that we have the same timeline, you are just a few days ahead. I hope that when either of us gets the LOA from CIO, one of us should follow. Haha.

I too I'm praying for the best positive results! :-)

Hi cebugirl. Actually there is an error in my timeline. I submitted my docs to CIO-NS last feb 11. Not January 11 hehe so ikaw ang ahead saken :) yup. Magkasunod lang tayo. Medyo nadelay pagsubmit ng docs namen because we received the LOA 6 weeks after the date of issue.. Inabutan kc ng Christmas season and dami holidays. Are u immigrating alone? I'm with my husband and 2 kids :)

Unless identified during IME, then there should be no further action required from you. It all boils down to your own discretion for now, on getting the shot or not. For kids - a complete immunization record that shows measles vaccination should enable smooth enrollment and integration into schools.

Also depending on the nature of the travel to Canada (for example working in food preparation, health areas etc.) added checks are included in the IME.

Unfortunately the PH was identified as having a outbreak of measles so there was a notice in the government sites for travellers to the PH. http://travel.gc.ca/travelling/health-safety/travel-health-notices/measles

Expect there will be added scrutiny in the coming IMEs for current applicants due to this, but for those with issued visas, I have not seen any health advisory that specifies added checks upon arrival. Nevertheless, as soon as you have health insurance and have a GP/doctor, do ask about getting a booster shot if needed.

Here is the specifics on vaccinations for persons new to Canada (specifically measles)
