Assuming CIO forwarded my application to Manila, will I be required to have my medical in Manila or could I have my medical done in another country?

Will there be any problem if my family will do their medical in the Philippines and I in another country?

There is no problem - you can schedule and have your IME with an authorized Panel Physician (PP) (i.e. DMP) and/or clinic where you are located, and your family can schedule and have theirs in the Philippines. eMedical allows streamlining and centralization of the results and sync with eCAS wherever the IMEs are done. This is as long as the PP/Clinic is now using eMedical. The important thing is to always make sure your Client ID and file number is indicated in your documents for MR. Also, I would recommend sending CEM or your VO, a summary letter/notification when the medicals have all been completed, and detailing when and where the IMEs were done. Scan and attach a copy of the receipts as proof IMEs have been done.

You can find the list of PPs available where you are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx

The general guidelines for IME for PR (Provincial Nominee) are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp
The general steps in the application process are seen here. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/next_steps.asp

Those should give you an indication of what to expect in your application in the coming months. :D

By the way, for those who are trying to book in April 2014, I asked my aunt (as she co-owns a travel agency) about cost of flights around that time and she gave me the cheapest quote of CAD$1,012 one way (inclusive of tax), MANILA-VANCOUVER-WINNIPEG (Cathay Pacific-Air Canada - Air Canada) with an allowance of 2 (23 kgs) bags/ passenger. That's quite a good price, right?

She also told me she will also look into the PAL promo for first time immigrants if there are anytime soon. As she thinks it will be cheaper than her quote.
April is coming into Spring season and would be nicer weather but air travel will be picking up also, so prices are expected to go higher as you come towards summer. There are always promotions for first-time immigrants that drive the price down so be on the lookout for these. What is good about that itinerary is the baggage allowance (2) IMHO.

@ ragluf: SLEC didn't bother looking into my xray prints and results that I have brought with me, although they took copies of my medical/ surgery history. Thanks again for your advice.
Hopefully you were not x-rayed/scanned again?

Also, I plan to send CEM an email that I have completed my medicals after I follow up from SLEC. I should attach a copy of the medical examination receipt, right?
Yes, inform CEM after completion of medicals - refer to this if you need a template for the letter. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/timeline-for-filipinos-submitted-pnppr-applctions-at-cio-t93206.0.html;msg1741730#msg1741730

thanks ragluf! this is very helpful as I am trying to budget everything. I'll try paying online and revert to this forum regarding my experience.

to those who paid via credit card, i'd like to ask how was it?

thank you!

Just take note - when paying by credit card, you need to ensure that your account has more than enough credit available always for the processing fee charge. This is because, the charge may come at a later time, and when that comes, you do not want to be caught with CIC/CIO charging the processing fee amount and then finding not enough credit to complete payment.

So you have to manage the balance on the credit card you will be using, and maintain enough balance at all times for the processing fees until they have been charged.

Actually, they did x-ray me again, they weren't interested at all with the prints or results. They stated that they require a six month minimum of x-ray prints/results for comparison. Nevertheless, my x-ray went out fine.

Although, they did take my documents regarding my surgery history.

For those who have already bought tickets in April 2014 or have been getting quotes for April 2014 flights.

And for those who have recently completed their medicals.

I am just going to re-post my questions:

Did my medicals SLEC, 17 December 2013

@ those done their medicals at SLEC: How many days did you wait until you called SLEC for a follow-up? And how many days until you had your DM and PPR? Been looking into the timeline spreadsheets but they are not that up to date yet.

TIA, guys. ;D ;D ;D
