Hi All,

I have finally gotten around to doing my update....

My wife received sponsorship approval from Canada on September 16. Because we are applying to Quebec we have sent the paperwork to them and should receive a response this week or next for the provincial immigration.

Bonbon can you please update my list with the following dates......

Sponsorship approved (Canada) 16 September
In Process (per ecas) 29 September

Thanks and good luck to all in this long road...

Mark.

Hi limanoid and whiteeagle!

whiteeagle: I think you might not be able to type the special characters on the form. Adobe probably doesn't recognize them. I don't think you'll have any problem attaching a note to your form with the correct writing/characters of your native name, just make sure you mention the form (IMM 5406) and your name on the additional sheet.

Police certificates have to be no older than 3 months when received by CIC at Mississauga. Even if they are still valid, CIC will not accept them. :(
Check the date of issuance on them and if it hasn't been 3 months since it was issued, you should be fine. Just resend it.

Good luck!

Bonbon9,

Thanks for your reply. Sure, I wrote names in separate sheet.

- Now with PCC-- I've 3 PCCs' (2 from India and 1 from Australia) When my folder was received by CPC-M one of the PCC from India had only 15 days on it to expire (means 90 days as per CIC). They don't issue PCC again in less than 6 months :(

- Till my folder reaches again second PCC from India will also expire and I had a very bad experience with this ONE PCC from India(they made my life ahell)

- My PCC from Australia should be valid coz I did not go back after and I don't live there anymore.

When I'd sent my application in September all the PCCs' were valid. Should I write a letter with explanation and attach it?

Thanks in advance!

I am so sorry to see that PCC's are being such a big hassle for you :(
The best advice I can give you is the following: Send the PC's with a letter in your application explaining the first time Mississauga received them they were no older than 3 months, send proof of this like your stamped envelope/box or package tracking. You should go through stage 1 with no problems as they only check sponsor's documents.
Meanwhile, I would try to ask each of the offices if they can reissue a certificate for you. This means, they don't need to do all the police checks, you only need a second copy of the original letter that was issued. I had exactly the same problem before, kinda, my PCC was lost by DHL. I called the office that issued my PCC and they were able to make a copy of the original in their records for me.

Good luck!

Yes, first step I can do, of writing letter and also printing screenshot, which I'd taken last time from TNT site, of they receiving it on 3rd Sept by so and so.

Let me check with the second step coz I wonder how they would react to it. They have troubled me a lot in past.

Thanks so much bonbon9! Will keep you posted.

Hi chloe0722!
From what we have registered in September thread so far we can see Mississauga takes about 25-27 days in replying with "decision made", which is what you'll see on eCAS, and the result of that decision will be sent to you in a letter (consider mailing delays if you're living abroad). It hasn't been 27 days since Sept. 22th, so I think you'll be receiving news next week.
The decision made that our September friends have received is the sponsorship approval - this means that the sponsor has been allowed to sponsor his partner, and the file will be sent to the office that will process the rest of the application (checks Police Certificates, and decides whether the relationship is genuine or not).
Some people are approved on first stage, and later on at the visa office they decide the relationship is not genuine or the person is inadmissible, and they deny the visa. We cannot say the visa will be issued based on the first decision made. Hope this will not be the case for anyone in our thread :(
Good luck!!

i am just wondering after looking at all the threads there is very few that do not get accepted for sponsorship on the first leg of the long journey. What would be the case? that they would be turned down other than not all the paper work done / or criminal back ground issues

it looks like they turn it over to the embassy and let them have the final say

I still don't even know if they've received my application forms yet, and it's been nearly a month. I understand the postal service from Thailand to Canada may take up to a couple weeks, but... is there a way to check? I tried to login to the CIC website using my receipt number, name and birthdate but was unable to log in.

Hi, boblu!

They would usually be turned down if the sponsor does not meet the requirements:
- If they're on welfare (government assistance)
- If they have a criminal background (not all offenses affect sponsorship eligibility)
- If they're not Canadian Citizens (PRs) they must have a minimum income and be living in Canada through the process
- Three years have not passed since they last sponsored someone for PR in Canada

Check form IMM1344A page 4, part E. Those are the reasons why a sponsor would be denied in first stage.

Hi Lifer!

Unless you have used a service that asks for a signature when your package arrives to its destination, you won't be able to confirm if they have received it. The only way is to wait to see "Decision made" on eCAS (make sure you're trying to log in with the sponsor's information!). You sent the package on the 17th, so if your package would have arrived the day after (in the best case) you would be getting an answer with Decision made this week or maybe the next one. Don't panic yet!
Good luck!

Heloo everyone!

So, sadly my wife just called and said our application was sent back as incomplete! We were expecting it so it was no surprize!
The reason being that our fee payment was not excepted. We paid by money order and never submitted the IMM 5401 receipt form.
No worries though! We are a strong family and can get through just about anything life puts in our way! We decided to pay online today, print the receipt, add some more proof and send it away again first thing tomorow!

Positive thinking is the best way to get through life's challenges and thats how we are making this process as stress free as we can!

Good luck to everyone!!
