MrsCasanova: Woahhhhh Awesome!! So happy for you guys :) Question: So you know if they need a special visa to get to Canada if they have a direct flight? Do they need a "transit visa" from United states??

ruby54: Congratulations!!! You must be SO happy!! I hope you won't wait so long before having passport & stuff!

Good luck to the rest of you guys!

karina 22: if they have a flight from central america to canada they to not need a transit visa.... cause they will already have perm res in canada.
if you book a flight with a stop in the states you need a transit visa.
the only company i know that flies from honduras to canada is TACA. do you know any else i could try??
Also afetr he gets his passport back then what does he need to do? can he travel that day? or the next?

ruby: I don't know, I haven't seen/read the papers he got... so I don't know if he can fly the next day. you might wanna call immigration canada to ask them, they'll answer you quickly.

THanks for the EEUU visa, I wasn't sure.

I only know taca too..!

karina there is somewhere on this thread details about the visa (don't remember which page). I think it said that it takes a week or so and about 150$
I think causew my hubby was there illegally it will be safer to just pay a lil extra for him to fly from honduras to canada...................WHEN he gets his passport.
Also if your hubby picked up his passport today how long before did you notice the "decision made" on Ecas???? And how long after you noticed did the contact you??

Hi all! I will be sponsoring my husband from Costa Rica to Canada...just wondering if anyone here used a Canadian immigration lawyer to help them, who you used, or if you can recommend a good one that has worked with sponsorships for Costa Ricans?? Thanks for your help....hope our application doesn't take too long like some of them at the Guatemalan embassy ::)

i used a lawyer and she was great, i highly recommend her. her office is in Vancouver, BC, i dont know if you are in that area, but if you are let me know and ill give u her contact info. Her name is Emma Andrews

i did not use a lawyer. I did the papers by my self it was really time consuming but it is kind of simple. It even states in the application papers that a lawyer does not speed us the process so if you have the time to do it your self you can.
Good luck! my suggestion to you if you get a lawyer is that you do not depend on them and you still investigate what you need to get done and stay on top of
1. expiry dates
2. emailing immigration
3. updating information
4. calling the consulate in costa rica around the 20th of every month for word of any correpondence.
plus you have our help here!

Hello,
Where can I find the number to call toe CR conculate? Anywhere I've read it says not to bother calling because if you're being processed outside Canada they can't help you. But, that's for the Canadian number as I haven't found the CR one.
Thanks!
