Hi everyone
Just an update on our timeline. Our application was received on March 11th and our Ecas has just changed today, to Decision Made. It says they processed the application on April 11th and sent a letter the same day.

Fingers crossed it's a nice letter :)

Ollie

That sounds like good news...sponsorship approval. Step one done...now on to waiting for London! Congratulations!

Thank you very much!

I'll post again once we have received the letter.

Ollie

Drop off and pick up service in london

For those who want to drop off at CHC London (and this is highly recommended given the 6 week turnaround currently experienced for mail) and aren't in London, don't have friends or family in London or don't fancy the trip to London, I found this visa courier service who were willing to do it: www.visaswift.com. They charge 42.80. I didn't try it myself so I can't say how it worked out but where I am sitting now I really wish I had. Just thought I'd pass along the info. No commercial plug intended either - I'm sure there are other visa services, but this is the only one that said they would do the special CHC drop off and pick up.

We're kicking ourselves right now. My hubby landed in London on a Friday morning and we were debating whether he should take the train/bus up to London (from Exeter) and hand it in personally. But we were like "oh...that's an extra week" it'll be faster if we mail it! Gosh we're so stupid! If we would have done that I'd be picking him up at the airport right now! Argh! The extra money and hassle from Exeter would have been worth it.

So no passport, no email today. It's only been 4 weeks, but I am going to London tomorrow to see if I can plead my case in person. Doesn't sound optimistic given derwig's description that they only let you into the foyer, but what the hell. I figured £80 return train fair was worth the investment to try to salvage some hope of using my non-refundable non-changeable return air fare to Vancouver which leaves on Saturday! ouch! Surely they can't turn down a simple request to get my passport back visa or no visa?
Good luck ftgpmb. But if you get your passport back without a visa what happens to your PR application? Would you just re-send your passport back to London once you land in Canada?

Hi everyone,

Good news, my husband's passport arrived this morning! So that was 5 weeks and 1 day from when London got it until we got it back. It was mailed yesterday. But we are in the uk, so get next day delivery.

My husband will be 'landing' later this summer sometime, then he will return to the uk to help us wrap things up and move over properly sometime in late november.

Pinklady...my husband's visa was also issued on feb 26.

Good luck to those of you still waiting. I hope you get aor/ppr/passports soon.

Ahhh ok, I thought the visa issued date, was the day they actually put it in the passport.
5 weeks and 1 day.
Millu was received in London 6 weeks ago tomorrow, so hopefully she'll get it back SOON!

Also, Yey Whitehorsejk for getting your husbands passport back. Its such a relief isn't it!

So to complete the saga, i got it! I queued in the drop off queue then explained my circumstances. They said that because of the large volume, postal applications are taking the full 6 weeks at the moment. They made a few calls and then a very nice lady appeared with an envelope addressed to me which they had been about to put in the post to me!!! Visa issued 04/04/2011. I land on Saturday in Vancouver. Yay!

Good luck to all other london office applicants patiently waiting.

Oh wow, thats fantastic!!! Yey! Great news!
You must feel so good!

It definitely is good to get it back, he was seriously starting to think it was lost somewhere :)

Excellent news ftgbmp about getting your passport. It's nice to know they didn't just turn you away and that they took the time to find it for you. Hope you have a good journey and landing.

does anybody know if I could get my friend who lives near london to drop off and pick up my passport for me? she doesnt look anything like me so would be obvious that its not her passport. Don't want to risk sending her for them to say no.
