Hey

I asked a question a few pages back but didn't really get a response, so i'll make it a little easier. I have an family class sponsorship application on hold in London due to a missing criminal record check. By all accounts it should have arrived by now but I have no idea how to find out whether it did or not (It is being sent from the Sydney office). I have emailed London but only have 30 days of my 60 left before they presume i'm 'No longer interested in immigrating to Canada'.

Should I just cross my fingers and hope they reply to my email enquiry? I am currently living in Canada on a visitor visa but calling CIC seems futile because they don't have access to Canadian visa offices. Any have any advice? This is stressing me out.. so close to the end too

Thanks

When did you email the London office? When you emailed, did you use the online email form? When I did this they got back to me in 3/4 days.
Have you tried calling the London office?
And are you certain that the Sydney office have sent the criminal record check?
I understand how stressful this is.
Good luck

I emailed the London office today. I should have done it a couple weeks ago but I have been awaiting a reply from Sydney, which I still haven't received. I used the online email form to contact both offices. I know for a fact that the Police check was completed by the NZ police and mailed to Sydney on 27/01/11 (I have an email from them) but that is where the trail goes cold. By all accounts it should be in London by now. I guess I should just sit and wait for a few days to see if London reply. Would you suggest I send a letter in the mail to the London office explaining the situation if I don't hear anything soon?
Thanks for your help

Sending them a letter can't hurt.

WRT emails they "endeavour" to return your email within 1-3 working days. In my hubby's case it's been four working days since we sent them an email and we still haven't heard anything from them so I can only guess that they are currently "overloaded". Based on other people's posts, emailing is the best way to get a hold of them so what you did was correct. If you don't hear anything from them in three working days, I would send them another email following up your previous one.

Seems they don't have to reply if the application is within normal lead times (which I understand for posted PPRs to receive a visa is 6 weeks!) I am only at 4 weeks, emailed them 4 days ago and received nothing too. Seems best results is to email them with some new information using the "changed name/circumstances" option on the web form - I'm not sure if getting more desperate counts as a changed circumstance though!

Today was the last day that my husband could receive his passport before he'd have to cancel his non-refundable flight. And guess what? Nothing came in the mail. They won't even consider requests unless it's been over 30 working days or 6 weeks. And for us it's only been four weeks. So worse case scenario is that we have to wait until the end of April. And I have a sneaking suspicion that this is the way it'll go based on how long everyone else has been waiting.

I think my husband kinda feels like he's being held hostage by the Canadian Consulate.

With it being a non-refundable flight, don't bother cancelling it, the passport might turn up before the flight?

Unlikely now, the London offices seem to close at 4pm.
Maybe tomorrow.

If they finish an hour and a half before most of the rest of the UK, they probably start earlier too otherwise I think this might be why it takes so long for them to process our applications...

Could you let me know when you get your passport back? We are now hoping that my husband will make the flight next Thursday to Montreal. It would be so nice to have him home for Easter! Sounds like we are in a similar boat!
