Just wanted to share an update with you all. My husband got through to an operator at the Canadian Consulate in London and she said that it can take up to 6 weeks and you can't do anything about it no matter what your situation is. She wasn't very sympathetic at all. We sent an email out too but we highly doubt that will make any difference. It's unfortunate not so much about the plane ticket but my huband was offered a job that he'll lose now because this company is super busy and desperately needs another person on board. Great job that has slipped through his fingers. On the bright side of things at least he will have his PR soon and will be able to live in Canada and we'll finally be reunited. And of course we still have our birthdays.

What have we learned from this? Hand it in personally! Even if you live all the way in Leeds!

Have a great weekend :)

i remember the night before my medical i got some passport pics done in shoppers drug mart. i wasnt sure if they wanted passport pictures or immigration pictures cos im sure they said passport when i booked it. So i wasted like an hour getting them done cos it didnt turn out right and the camera wouldnt work and i kept laughing... anyway i wasted like $30 for 2 pictures and then didnt even need them cos they wanted immigration pictures! oh well i had both just in case. I gave my husband one of the passport pics and told him to keep it in his wallet!

Funny!!! That's the sort of thing that happens to me! When my boys were about 4months old we were applying for their UK passports but didn't know about Jessops so did their piccies in a booth. I sat on the floor (ergh!) and lifted them up while my fella put his hand under their top to hold their head up without seeing his hand in the photo...we spent a fortune. We told our friend about the 'fun' we'd had and she said 'should've gone to Jessops, they laid Jack down and I got them to take 7 shots until they finally got one I liked'!!! Damn it!
We've put some of the shots in their baby books so they can have a laugh when they're grow up

Hey All! Just a quick poll-type question. How long did it take you to have your passport returned when you submitted it to the London office? Ours got to the London office on the 21st of March and we are still waiting for it to be returned. Just wanted some sort of time line to go by.

Cheers!
Hey, so i'll answer your question again, I posted it from canada on Feb 28th, it arrived in London on March 4th and it arrived in my mail box today (yey!) April 8. 35 days from London receiving it to me getting it back.
But so relieved phew!
I'll be landing tomorrow and feeling nervous about it!!

We'll try to! I agree with your lessons learned.

Today is 25 days since received at the CHC London. The day before we fly would be 31 days. Pinklady just got hers back on day 35 in Canada, so there is still hope ...

I got my photos done at the IDPhotoshop located in Charing Cross underground Station...quite reasonably priced, I think I paid £15 or so for 16 photos. If you give them the official photo specification details they will guarantee that the photos will be accepted.

I think 2 were needed for the medical, 8 need to be sent with the application, then 2 more when your passport is submitted.

Dropped my passport off at the High Commission this week, so will pick up in just under 2 weeks.

Regards,

Derwig

Pinklady and ftgpmb, thanks for this information and positivity. I'm not holding my breath that my hubby will get his passport back in time as it will be only twenty-something days, but I do have a little hope. Now I'm crossing my fingers that he'll be home in time for the Easter break! My family and I are supposed to introduce him to a Sugar Shack! :)
