Sorry to hear you're having the same problem (and I'm sure we're not the only ones!). This is so frustrating. They could at the very least acknowledge reception when they ask for documents, especially when we have to provide them quickly.

Still no news for us today, so we're going to drop them a case specific enquiry, which you might also want to try. Let's just hope we'll get an answer. :(

You're so right Charno, they should at least acknowledge they've received documents, especially when they're the ones who requested them!

I did send an enquiry however, and did get a response to say they had received the requested documents. And basically to piss off and don't contact them until ha! But I've had confirmation, and although My CIC still isn't up to date, I'll accept the acknowledgement!

Good, at least now you know! ;) Did you mark it as "urgent" to get a response so fast?

Hi,
I applied for PR through PNP program/Paper application in Aug 2015 from USA, my visa office was Ottawa, Canada so technically I was inland, did Medical this year in May, status shows medical passed in June this year.
Currently it shows Background Check & Review of eligibility - In Progress.

Recently I moved to UK & I sent a CSE to update my address from USA to UK, when I check my status online it shows my new address.

My Question - Will they complete background check & review eligibility in Canada itself or they'll transfer my file to UK first & then London office will do remaining activities.

Please suggest.

Thank you.

No they won't transfer it to London, they will finish it where it is (in Ottawa) - as you can see from the spreadsheet, they process almost half of applications for British PA's in Ottawa as it is (capacity). Sounds like they are pretty much there already, background check is one of the last things they do.

HI. CAN SOMEBODY ENLIGHTEN ME THE THIS PLEASE?

I have received my passport with COPR from VAC London [VFS Global]. Being a Pakistani National [UK Resident] I plan to visit Pakistan to meet my parents and then fly from Pakistan to Canada in December. Would that be OK? I mean IS THERE ANY RESTRICTION THAT I MUST FLY FROM UK [Country of Visa Issuence] TO CANADA DIRECTLY?

Regards

Ah just responded to you on PM, which I don't normally do but it was an easy question.

Zero requirement to fly from the UK. You can fly from wherever, as long as you physically show up in Canada before the expiry date on your COPR you are good to go.

The BritishExpats site has a wiki article on Landing that would be useful to read through. (The site is for Brits, but the info on Landing works for anyone.)

Congrats again! :)

This thread is for Canadian citizens/PRs sponsoring their spouses, which is a very different process from PNP.

I suggest you post your queries in the PNP or EE sections of the forum.

Are you married or common-law? Where in the UK does your partner live? I have added you to the spreadsheet and will edit your details once I know!

Yes the details online will update, normally within a week. Some people say it updates on Tuesdays, some say Thursdays, for me (got PR nearly a year ago) it updated once when I got sponsor approval the day after my sponsor got the email, and then once on a cold Albertan night in December saying a decision had been made!

Just wondering if anyone knows how CIC decides who's application gets processed through London or Ottawa? Seems kind of crazy how the wait times in London are so much longer than those in other offices.

There does not appear to be any pattern at all. I would guess that Ottawa is being used as 'overflow' for a hard pressed London, hence the percentage sent to Ottawa seems to vary over time. I speak as someone who is also in the London queue :'(

Hiya,

just checking the spreadsheet - might want to edit the spreadsheet - my app received was actually 21 september, not 11th.

Cheers!
