So just received the letter saying: "Your application has reached the final stage of processing. So that your permanent resident visa can be issued, you must now submit the documents listed below." So basically will have to send the original passport along with photos.

I actually have two quick questions:

1- The documents (photos and passports) are requested for "accompanying spouse and dependent family members" as well. Shall I assume that since my wife/daughter are both Canadian that I should not send anything related to them?

2- In terms of sending the original passport does anyone have any experience of how long does the whole thing take to have the visa stamped; I am currently on a prolonged business trip so need to get an idea on how long I would practically be passport-less....

Many thanks as always!

1. Correct. You only need to send in your passport and photos of you.

2. No definitive answer but it will be within 6 weeks. Check the spreadsheet for non-visa exempt applicants for an idea of how long they waited.

Many thanks for that, appreciated! There is one bit on the medicals, which I am missing although it might be trivial: I completed by medicals in October 2013, couple of months before we submitted our application, and no further tests were requested throughout the process and I know that usually the validity of the visa is linked to the medicals, so shall I assume that CIC has automatically renewed or extended my medicals?

Yes, assume they extended them. I do not know if London VO normally notifies the applicant when they extend the medical so don't worry that they never told you.

Hi guys, only 9 days until I move, I was wondering if anyone can guide me through the immigration process at the airport or help with the 2 lists I need to make. I know what the two lists are but im just struggling how to list my belongings and what to put.
About the airport, I know once I land, I go through border control like everyone else, but after that I have no idea what happens. I read I have to collect my belongings and then head to immigration, but where is that? I am landing at Toronto Pearson Airport, Terminal 3.
Any help would be nice
Thankyou!

Hi,
If you read what it says about proof of funds on your CoPR you will see that it doesnt apply to family class. Read the document attached to your CoPR, it does contain a lot of answers.

Last sentence reads (last page under Proof of funds for settlement): Members of the family class who have been sponsored by a relative (includes spouses) are not required to show proof of funds.

Hi All,

So I received the letter couple of days back requesting passport submission, which I posted already. The letter suggests that I should submit the package to the Visa Application Center in London for secure transmission (although the letter doesn't mention the transmission is for where), otherwise to submit it at the Case Processing Center in Ottawa if I were in Canada. No other address or destination is mentioned.

My issue is that currently I am in Lebanon for an eight week business mission, so can I actually just submit the passport to the VAC in Lebanon or it has to be submitted to the VAC in London? In other terms is the passport sent to Ottawa through the VAC or is the VAC in London the actual end destination for the passport?

Does anyone have a clue on such a case?

Many thanks

Submit it to London. Lebanon is not expecting it; you are not being processed there. Submit it to London.

Thank you for that, that makes sense. I was under the impression that the VAC would securely transmit the package to Ottawa so figured that it did not matter which VAC sends it, as the destination is Ottawa but some search actually confirmed what you have mentioned. Cheers!
